mikawa 1,794 Posted July 26, 2016 (edited) For the middle weight juniors from Japan: Ishizaki, Meitoku-Gijuku high 3rd year.http://www.kochinews.co.jp/article/35104/ Ishizaki Takuma (石崎 拓馬) comes from Osaka, and is a powerful and clever rikishi, despite his height (or lack there of). He has an equally talented younger brother called Ishizaki Ryoma (石崎 涼馬), who knocked out Toma Tsuguto (当真 嗣斗), yes, that 'monster' from Okinawa, in last year's Middle School Championships. Akinomaki 41,906 Posted July 30, 2016 (edited) On the 30th and 31st this month in Mongolia. Hakuho is presenter, Sankyo sponsor. Schedule and information: http://sumo2016mongolia.com/en/ I haven't yet found a site that broadcasts it. The page now has a link for live stream, but it looks like the Mongolian page http://tv.onair.mn/ requires registration to play the sumo world championships in the left lower corner - I haven't registered for UBS yet - and I have no idea how to do it - google translator doesn't translate the field contents and the registration fails: my email address gets refused. Edit: I had to register via Facebook - I hate that and the extra junk mail it produces. Now on http://tv.onair.mn/watch/edu- but already the last minutes, till 19:00h Mongolian time, same as Japan. Asashosakari 20,338 Posted July 30, 2016 (edited) The Ustream link works fine for me. Terrible sound though, so nearly impossible to follow what's going on. Edit: The proper TV broadcast is of much superior quality. Edited July 30, 2016 by Asashosakari

Akinomaki 41,906 Posted July 30, 2016 (edited) Russia won gold, Mongolia 2nd, 3rd Japan and Ukraine - both men and women I'm still looking for a live ticker result page. Turbold like in 2014 won gold in the open division. I hope a video will be available soon. Edited July 30, 2016 by Akinomaki
rhyen 1,863 Posted July 30, 2016 Guess the world Federation has cleared the Russian athletes to compete.

Akinomaki 41,906 Posted July 30, 2016 (edited) It seemed odd to me that the junior world championships were moved after the adult championships - especially because the original schedule was different: http://www.ifs-sumo.org/ Apparent reason is that Hakuho (and the other rikishi) had to return for the start of the jungyo on the 31st - unfortunately I haven't seen him on the broadcast today and the videos are behind the paywall. I would have tried to watch earlier if I had realized that change of schedule (I must have read it on the tournament page though). Well, Hakuho and Asasekiryu were present at the opening ceremony (according to twitter and FB photos). Don't know about the others, I think Harumafuji may have been chaperoning his family and Hakuho 's family around UB before the rush to the airport.
Akinomaki 41,906 Posted July 31, 2016 The adults were late, the juniors are early and I missed all of it. Juniors team: Men: 1st Japan, 2nd Egypt, 3rd Mongolia and Poland Women: 1st Japan, 2nd Mongolia, 3rd Russia and ? The results on http://www.ifs-sumo.org/ifs-result1.htmland http://www.ifs-sumo.org/ifs-jr-result.html usually take weeks to appear.
Akinomaki 41,906 Posted July 31, 2016 (edited) Looks like they now are airing a digest. Recording http://tv.onair.mn/watch/edu with youtube-dl seems to work. Edit: the recordings vanish (or a corrupted) if not terminated properly - the whole day gone for me Edited July 31, 2016 by Akinomaki
Katooshu 3,485 Posted July 31, 2016 I'd love to see Turbold in ozumo.
Kintamayama 47,458 Posted August 3, 2016 (edited) Georgian wins Juniors Protocol is not his cup of tea. Possible isamiashi there as well. Yeah, shinitai bla bla, but isamiashi is what I see. And no protocol, amateurs notwithstanding. Edited August 3, 2016 by Kintamayama
Atenzan 1,084 Posted August 3, 2016 (edited) Georgian wins Juniors Protocol is not his cup of tea. Possible isamiashi there as well. Yeah, shinitai bla bla, but isamiashi is what I see. And no protocol, amateurs notwithstanding. It is pretty damn close to isamiashi, and if it is, he should not have won. In amateur sumo kabai-ashi is only granted in frontal tsuridashis. I'll go back to pausing and unpausing like a maniac to see if I can tell what happened first. Upon further inspection, I believe there was no isamiashi. The Japanese guy's lower back hit the ground before the Georgian guy's foot did. Edited August 3, 2016 by McBugger

Johnofuji 232 Posted August 7, 2016 I've got the results as a jpeg but I'm buggered if I can work out how to post it.Unless I'm doing something wrong, all I seem to be able to do is post old photos that I posted years ago otherwise they have to come from somewhere with a url. I took a lot of video but some of it was shaky. The stadium was so packed it was hard to get somewhere stable to rest on. Normally I would sit in the VIP area as it's usually not busy but there were many guests. It was too hot to wear my suit in the stadium so I didn't like sitting next to the dignitaries whilst looking scruffy. I sat with Katrina's sister next to the camera for the good bouts. I believe that someone must have damaged the upstream usb link as I was told that they were frantically trying to repair it. This tournament probably had the best coverage in recent times so it will be disappointing if another year goes by without sharing any official footage simply because the IFS never get around to doing it. I'll let you know when I put some videos on YouTube or my Facebook page - Kimarite Central Sumo Techniques.
