Copying and pasting the rules for the Euro finals (which are different to World Cup finals, due to their being one less match)....

Euro Finals Rules

The final match is divided into 5 unequal time segments.

Times will be the official times given in minutes.
The time slots are as follows:-

1. 0-25 mins
2. 26-45 mins (including any stoppage time)
3. 46 - 70 mins
4. 71 - 90 mins (including any stoppage time)
5. Extra Time: 91 - 120 mins (including any stoppage time)

Players need to label which part of the match they are predicting. Remember that you predict for all parts of the match for the teams still on your roster. So if you have both teams, you will have 10 slots in total. Label as follows:- (1) = 0-25 mins, (2) = 26-45+ mins, (3) = 46-70 mins, (4) = 71-90+ mins, (5) = Extra Time

Players need to highlight their (E1) and (E2) teams (if still in the competition) - by putting it by the first mention of that team in the line-up.

The © and ® teams - if any player is lucky enough to still have them - have the same rules as for the semi-finals. Namely, players choose which part of the match (so 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 - remember if no extra time occurs, then any ® or © team in that slot is counted as a 'normal' draw. If extra time does occur, then ® and © teams in that slot get the 'special' powers.) to use the special ® or © powers. This power can only be used once - so choose carefully. For the other four time periods, they count as 'normal' teams. Players need to remember to indicate (just the once) which slot he intends to use the special powers.

Normal time and Extra time rules

The same as for the semi-finals

Penalty shoot-out

See either official rules thread, or the post somewhere above. (No need to send me a new PK line-up, all final PK line-ups have already been submitted.)

'Drone' rules

All teams already knocked out of the Euro are removed from the drone's line-up.

The order of a drone's squad will be the current order of his remaining teams based on the first mention in the semi-final line-up, from 1st time slot - 5th time slot. E.g. Drone: 1. first team (1), 2. first team (2), 3. first team (3), 4. first team (4th), 5. first team (5), 6. second team (1) etc, where 'first team' means the first team in their previous line-up (for the semi-finals) still in the Euros.

'Semi-drone' rules....

If any player omits to give the 'time' for the match, E.g. 1. England, 2. Germany etc, it will be assumed to be 1. England (1), 2. England (2), 3. England (3), 4. England (4), 5. England (5), 6. Germany (1) etc

A drone/semi-drone receives full benefit of ® and © teams (in the first slot where they appear).

I have a busy day next Monday, so I *might* not get up to watch the Euro Finals (which starts at 3 am my time), so I am going to set an early deadline again, just to be safe.

That is 3pm French time, 10 Japan time on the Sunday of the finals (6 hours before kick-off), but earlier entries are encouraged!

So Achiyama and Mischashimaru, please send me your line-ups before the deadline!

The Irony of Fate.

Who would have ever predicted:

The Battle of the Ladies!

or

The Battle of the Wives!

Unbelievable to be so knowledgeable in European football or maybe be very lucky!

Either way - Congratulations!

I have Jakusotsu's final line-up. Thanks

Let me know if you are considering to eventually change your line-up till the Deadline (30 min. before the real match kick-off), so to hold on with the posting.

In your case it's pretty clear as the Drone's line-up was posted already.

Jezz,

I just sent my final line-up for the Cup 3rd place play-off with my PM, entitled "2016 Bench Euro Line-ups & Penalty kicks".

Thank you very much for running (Rijichoing) the 2016 Bench Euro. It was plenty of work, but it was much fun as well.

Hope to do the 2018 Bench World Cup from Russia.

Regards,

Achiyama

Nope, all set.

(I didn't even realize I was up against the Drone before submitting.)

After a week of computer problems, I am going to announce the line-ups for third place now, whilst I still have Internet access!

****************************************************************************

3rd Place Play-off

Refioji Jejima
Achiyama (Switzerland)

1. France (E2) (5), 2. France (2), 3. France (1), 4. France (3), 5. France (4)

vs

Mischashimaru (N. Ireland)
1. France (5), 2. France (3), 3. France (1), 4. France (4), 5. France (2)

Jejima's comment: Both players only have France left in their squads - so there is a good chance that this match will end on penalties. Both France and Portugal will need to score at least once to be able to make this game end in normal time. Both players can relax for the first 25 minutes of the game - as they both have that time in their third slots, so any real goal action then will count for naught in their Bench match. If the game goes to extra time, they can also sit back and relax, as both players have extra time in their first slots. Looking at the line-ups, it will be the times immediately before and after the half-time break that might decide this match.

Lineups for the Grand Finale, i.e. the Bench Cup, aka the Battle of the Wives:

Chokoryu: 1. Portugal (E2) (1), 2. Portugal (E2) (2), 3. Portugal (E2) (3), 4. Portugal (E2) (4), 5. Portugal (E2) (5), 6. France ® (1), 7. France (2), 8. France (3), 9. France (4), 10. France (5)

vs.

Fujiko: 1. Portugal (E2) (2), 2. Portugal (E2) (3), 3. Portugal (E2) (4), 4. Portugal (E2) (1), 5. Portugal (E2) (5), 6. France (3), 7. France (4), 8. France (5), 9. France (2), 10. France (1)

As a bit of an anticlimax, Chokoryu failed to submit a lineup and starts the final match with a yellow card for droning. :-(

I don't like Ronaldo at all but the way the lucky Frenchies (totally undeserved win vs. Germany) have attacked him (Payet should have been sent off for this rude foul but the useless ref Clattenburg seems to be blind) in the first 20 minutes I'm now rooting for Portugal (despite their usually unfair player Pepe).

I never dared to even dream of becoming supportive of CR7. Not even a free kick was awarded. I hope this wasn't part of Deschamps' game plan. Go Portugal!

Final results for the Cup:

Chokoryu 0:0 Fujiko
(France) (Wales)

Portugal (E2) (1) D 0:0 D Portugal (E2) (2)
Portugal (E2) (2) D 0:0 D Portugal (E2) (3)
Portugal (E2) (3) D 0:0 D Portugal (E2) (4)
Portugal (E2) (4) D 0:0 D Portugal (E2) (1)
Portugal (E2) (5) W 0:0 W Portugal (E2) (5)
France ® (1) D x:0 D France (3)
France (2) D x:0 D France (4)
France (3) D x:x L France (5)
France (4) D x:x D France (2)
France (5) L x:x D France (1)
France being her representative team put Chokoryu in a precarious position, breaking her chain. But France failed to score for Fujiko, and since there aren't any goals to be had in extra time either (after slot 8), we need a penalty shootout:

Chokoryu 5:3 Fujiko
(France) (Wales)

Portugal W 3:3 W Portugal
France F 2:0 Germany
Germany x:x F France
Wales x:x Wales
Both contestants start strongly with 3 goals each for the Euro Winner, but then Fujiko chokes on Germany and Chokoryu seals the deal with two more goals for the finalist France.

The Bench Euros Cup goes to (droning) Chokoryu - omedeto!

Congrats to Fujiko for 2nd place, and many, many thanks to her husband for putting so much work into this exticing game! Have a nice trip!

Bench Bowl Final

Well, it didn't go to the penalties.

The chains were broken very early, with no scored goals. The match went to extra time.

Nothing for a long time, but finally, in Slot #9, there was the winner, the only goal of this match.

This way, the winner of the Bench Bowl 2016 is Kuroimori! Congratulations! (Sign of approval...)
