Jejima Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Following this thread, we have selected M2E Shodai to be the 'target' for this basho's Guess Kisenosato's Aite.
Jejima Posted May 1, 2016 Author Posted May 1, 2016 Announcing the May 2016 edition of Guess Kisenosato's Aite.... But for M2E Shodai....All you have to do is guess M2E Shodai's opponent each day, before the torikumi comes out. If you guess correctly, you get a shiroboshi. This is surprisingly more fun (or frustrating) and challenging than it should be. It also gets you to think a bit more about the 'inner-workings' of sumo. Here is the current banzuke:- Jakusotsu (Y1E 9-6) Y1 Andonishiki (O2W 10-5) O1 Kuroimori (O1W 9-6) O2 chishafuwaku (O1E 8-7) Tenshinhan (S1E 9-6) S1 Gurowake (S1W 9-6) Jejima (S2E 8-7) S2 Profomisakari (S2W 8-7) orandashoho (K1E 8-7) K1 Kaiomitsuki (M1E 9-6) Gernobono (M1W 8-7) M1 Ryoshishokunin (M3W 9-5-1) PhorCillic (K1W 7-7-1) M2 shimodahito (M3E 5-6-4) XiaoTan (M2E 3-8-4) M3 The Kyokai (M2W 2-13) McBugger (mz 8-5-2) M4 Comments: Jakusotsu got a Jun-Yusho in March, but this result was actually a little below 'Ozeki Quality'. So he is both commended on his March performance, but is urged to show even more in May! Andonishiki claimed the Yusho in March. He will be considered for promotion to Yokozuna with a yusho or yusho equivalent in May. Tenshinhan once again picked up a Jun-Yusho, but once again fell a little short of 'Ozeki Quality' sumo (the target he was given), so he once again misses out on promotion to Ozeki. However, we will carry this over again for May, with a little extra.... Tenshinhan will be considered for promotion to Ozeki for May if he achieves an Ozeki Quality performance or gets at least a share of the Jun-Yusho in May Profomisakari got a Jun-yusho in March, but it was fairly ordinary, so no promotion to Ozeki. However, if he gets a Yusho, or a good Jun-Yusho in May, he will be again considered for promotion to Ozeki. The rules are as follows:-1. Guess M2E Shodai's opponents on each day of the basho.2. Entries need to be in before 11:30 am Japan time on the previous day, except for the days 1 and 2 entries which need to be in before 11:30 am Japan time on the Friday prior to the start of the basho. If it turns out that the daily toriukumi is printed before these times, then any entry proved to have come afterwards is not allowed for that day (so enter early to be safe).3. Tie-breakers to decide the Yusho.... We look at the result of the day 15 prediction, then day 14, and so on back to day 1. If still a tie, then the highest ranked on the banzuke can claim the Yusho.4. If Shodai goes kyujo during the basho, we switch to M2W Ichinojo (M1W Takarafuji, then M1E Myogiryu kept further in reserve, if needed due to a mass spate of kyujos) for the days after his fusensho loss (I.e. we can still guess who gets the freebie). For the immediate day afterwards, (unless it is known very soon after the event), everyone will get a 'kyujo'.5. Players that are leading the Yusho race (especially in the final few days of the basho), are requested / expected to get their picks in very early (before all the other players, if possible) - in order to avoid suspicions of 'tactical picking'.Special prizes (many thanks to Yaochoyama):1. Outstanding performance (shukun-sho) - the one who correctly picks the aite the most consecutive days. You have to have a minimum of three to win this prize.2. Fighting spirit (kanto-sho) - the one who limits their incorrect aite picks to the shortest number of consecutive days (literally the one whose longest losing streak is the shortest). Any losing streak of 5 or more days would disqualify you from this prize.3. Technique (gino-sho) - the one who is best at making correct picks when no one, or hardly anyone else does. A point system is used as follows and you need at least 3 points to claim this prize:3 points if you're the only win to make the correct pick2 points if you're one of two to make the correct pick1 point if you're one of three to make the correct pickNew players (Order, order!) are cordially invited to this game - it is an official second league © game!
Jejima Posted May 1, 2016 Author Posted May 1, 2016 (edited) Day 1 - O2E Terunofuji Kotoshogiku Day 2 - Y1E Hakuho ( (Zabuton flying...) ) Edited May 1, 2016 by Jejima
Gurowake Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Day 1 - O2E Terunofuji Did you want O2E, or Terunofuji? Those are not the same this basho. This would be an amusing strategy for getting "two guesses" though. 1

Gernobono Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 hop on the wagon....can't find an alternative superior to: day 3 kisenosato
Ryoshishokunin Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Argh, I didn't notice that an Isegahama guy was at M1. Q: When does the committee decide the Day 3 matchups? After Day 1?
Gurowake Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 (edited) Argh, I didn't notice that an Isegahama guy was at M1. Q: When does the committee decide the Day 3 matchups? After Day 1? They are announced after Day 1, at Noon or so (local time) Day 2. When they decide them, well, I wouldn't know. Edited May 6, 2016 by Gurowake
