Will he participate in the next Basho and what will his rank be?

I posted an article about his health on the sumo listserve a couple weeks ago. He and his oyakata fully expect him to be back on the dohyo come March. It will be interesting if he stays in Makuuchi on the new banzuke. Go enter your best guess in Moti's Guess the Banzuke contest. :)

Will he participate in the next Basho and what will his rank be?

He's preparing to participate as I know! The rank is unknown yet. The next Banzuke will tell us. I'm not sure which to root for: low-maegashira or top Juryo? He could do pretty well at the bottom of Makuuchi, but also he could try and win a well-deserved Juryo yusho. One more trophy to collect! :)

I hope that he will start the Haru Basho fully healed and strong! I wish you the best Osunaarashi!

Good to see the Big Man is fit, any thoughts as to if all goes well when he could make Sanyaku?

My prediction model had him making sanyaku around 30% of the time as of the beginning of the tournament. It's possible and not terribly unlikely, but he'll have to do better than average compared to how he has fought in the past.
