Can I suggest that in future years wildcard pick something a little bit more reasonable than the bottom of the banzuke for his rank: maybe last year's winning rank? (or add another drone with last year's winning Torchholders?)

good day,
Two players take a chance on guessing a Jonokuchi ranked rikishi to get some TORCH points early. This has proved successful and unsuccessful in previous years for players; but has never provided enough points to win at the end of the year. 2016 could be different.

Here is a recap of the TORCH journey during the Hatsu basho:
start-of-TORCH 2016 rank: JONOKUCHI 23 EAST
start-of-TORCH 2016 rikishi: NODAGASHIRA

DAY 1: Jonokuchi 23 East Nodagashira (0-0) defeated Jonokuchi 22 West Hattorizakura (0-0).
DAY 3: Jonokuchi 23 East Nodagashira (1-0) passed the TORCH to Jonokuchi 21 West Bandaisan (1-0).
DAY 5: Jonokuchi 21 West Bandaisan (2-0) passed the TORCH to Jonokuchi 20 East Kotokamatani (2-0) [3 points kuroimuri & Naganoyama]

DAY 7: Jonokuchi 20 East Kotokamatani (3-0) defeated Jonokuchi 14 West Takenoumi (3-0) [3 points - kuroimuri & Naganoyama]
DAY 10: Jonokuchi 20 East Kotokamatani (4-0) defeated Jonokuchi 5 West Tomiyama (3-1) [3 points - kuroimuri & Naganoyama]

DAY 12: Jonokuchi 20 East Kotokamatani (5-0) defeated Jonokuchi 8 East Hitomi (4-1) [3 points - kuroimuri & Naganoyama]

DAY 13: Jonokuchi 20 East Kotokamatani (6-0) defeated Jonidan 97 West Hayate (5-1) [3 points - kuroimuri & Naganoyama]

end-of-Hatsu rank: JONOKUCHI 20 EAST
end-of-Hatsu rikishi: KOTOKAMATANI

standings:
15 points - kuroimori
15 points - Naganoyama
67 players with 0 points.

thanks to the video loggers!!!

Thanks Shimodahito for running this easy to play game.

I think something has to be done with the rules.

I don't think it is bad but the game becomes a boring one when somebody chooses a dominant rikishi (especially in Hatsu) and piles up a lot of points and till the end of the year all other gamers are out of the game.

What I'd recommend is to have a rule like the one for Chain Gang Game - "a gamer to be able to get maximum 3 wins/rikishi/basho".

That means that if it happened a dominant rikishi like Kotononami after his 3rd win the Rijiho to change the bout for next day with another one which doesn't include the one who already had 3+ wins in a row.

Another thing: what if (it's not that the probability to happen is high) all gamers had chosen Kotononami (like Banzuke Wave 12). The game would be boring as well.

This is just my opinion.

Ahm, objection!

The simple fact that just 2 out of 69 players chose - or rather took a gamble with - Kotokamatani (not Kotononami) doesn't warrant such restrictive rule in my point of view. Then you would have to change the name of this game as well.

good day,

In the years of TORCH, no player who picked a jonokuchi rikishi has won. And only once do I remember someone finishing in the top 5. Also, there have been years when jonokuchi-picking players never get a TORCH match or lose on their first match. This year the two jonokuchi-pickers are on a roll and collecting many points. I don't know how long their run will last, but it's certainly not common when compared to past years... and there have been jonokuchi-picking players nearly every year. The rank picks could be the decider of who finishes on top. good luck to all.

good day all,
With co-leaders at 24 points, it will take more than just ending the year with a TORCH pick to defeat them. This is the first time in TORCHBEARER history there has been such a quick start. The gamble to pick a jonokuchi rikishi has never produced points this many points.

Thanks for the ride, Mr. Kamatani! ;-)

And turning the game into a 2-player game. ;-)

BTW, what is the tiebreaker between Kuriomori and Naganoyama?

I know very well the picks.

I don't blame you, or Naganoyama that you picked KOTOKAMATANI. On the contrary, I think you did a smart pick.

All I want to point out is that for the rest of us (67 gamers) - 2016 is over. I don't think anybody can catch you.

I don't feel the buzz!

My question was about the tiebreaker between you and Naganoyama - who would be declared the Yusho Winner?
