shumitto Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I wouldn't post it as everyone here knows where to find this info, but I've decided to post it anyway to kick-start the comments. http://sumodb.sumogames.de/Results.aspx?b=201601&d=1 1
hamcornheinz Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Man, Goeido is looking really terrible this tournament.
rhyen Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Day 2, line up all the Isegahama wrestlers in the last 4 bouts, in a zig-zag pattern. Maybe they could spike the opponents' chikara-mizu.
WAKATAKE Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Why? He is injured but has to do with some pretty competitive opponents the first two days. Aoiyama and Ichinojo aren't exactly pushovers.

Sumozumo Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Why? He hasn't even gotten a win yet this basho... 1
Dwale Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 (edited) Those are some pretty tough appetizers for the yokozuna to get down. I'd like to see Ikioi get a win over Hakuho (he's due), but I'm not really expecting it. Curious to see how Shohozan handles maegashira 1. If I had to guess, I would predict he gets his hindquarters handed to him. At the same time, I would love to be surprised by another spectacular performance like last basho. He's got some momentum, but also the misfortune to face off against Terunofuji on day one. Ouch. EDIT: It would be awesome to see Aminishiki break into sanyaku here on the tail end of his career, so I'll be cheering for him extra hard this time around. I doubt Kisenosato is going to make it easy for him on day one, though. 2nd edit: You know who else Aminishiki needs to watch out for? Shohozan! Edited January 9, 2016 by Dwale 1

If anyone watched JobTunes, Oshima Oyakata asked Aminishiki to win a Yusho before he turns 38 and retire before he turns 41 (so as to not break Kyokutenho's record) :P 2

rhyen Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 This might be the most entertaining rivalry we might get to see. Aminishiki vs Oshima.
orandashoho Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 This might be the most entertaining rivalry we might get to see. Aminishiki vs Oshima. It was more exciting when they were both active in the same division.
Jejima Posted January 10, 2016 Posted January 10, 2016 It is the third basho in a row that Endo and Amuru meet on day 1. Is this some sort of record? The basho before that? They met on day 15.
