Ichinojou was at the weigh-in yesterday and has added another kilo to his already wide collection, tipping the scale at 208, his heaviest ever and is tied with Sadanofuji for the heaviest Makuuchi rikishi award. All the talk of diet went out of the window I guess. Last basho he was visibly slow and heavy. "I haven't put on a lot of weight..", mumbled Ichinojou.

Sekiwake Tochiouzan will be the focus of some attention this basho after his 10 wins last basho that included beating both Yokozuna and 2 Ozeki. He trained at home with Tochinoshin, Aoiyama and others-17 bouts. He was looking good- lowering his body and pushing forward. "Nah, still a long way to go.." he said later.

Tochinoshin had 19 bouts. He seemed to be a bit sluggish and unstable. It's the first time post-war that someone drops to Makushita 55 and returns to Sanyaku. "I'm exerting too much power and that is not good. I should be going about this calmly, " he said, even later.

Ichinojou will be sporting his first-ever oicho-mage hairstyle in Aki, as his hair is now long enough. "I'm happier than when I first made a chon-mage.." he said. It took Endou 14 bashos and Ichinojou 12 to reach this important aesthetic milestone.

Endou went to the Isegahama Ichimon rengo-keiko yesterday at Isegahama beya and was very popular, being called out by Hakuhou, Harumafuji and Terunofuji. He faced them 12 times in total and lost all bouts. It was his first degeiko since his injury in March. "I'll make the best of this experience!!" he said.

Sekiwake Myougiryuu is famous for his special training and using supplements. He got a new kesho mawashi from Ezaki Glico.

He has been using their protein products since he was in High School and has been taking 9 types of anti-fatigue and nutritional supplements. He says his 22% body fat (1.87/151 kilos) is thanks to the supplements. "My body is what it is thanks to the supplements. I take two or three times more than a normal personal but if it's for the body I'll take what it takes.." he announced. "Having this splendid kesho-mawashi makes me ready and willing to aim for higher than Sekiwake.." he summed.

Sekiwake Tochiouzan missed the YDC soken a few days ago due to a left knee injury, which was sustained on September 3rd. After a week's rest, he renewed his training today at Kasugano beya, facing Tochinoshin and Aoiyama and going 12-2. "I'm still feeling a bit awkward but my knee is getting better," he said. "Every time I move forward it seems like the knee gets locked. I think it's a really important basho for me, " he added, as talk of an Ozeki run is being heard. His forward motion was actually looking good, says the reporter.

Was combing through the Sumo DB and found that photos for Ichinojo, Abi, and Mitakeumi are finally up. Still none for Shodai, Daishomaru, Osunaarashi, Endo, nor Onosho.
