And he went to see the governor of Tottori to report kachi-koshi in a row in his 2nd juryo basho: 8-7, he managed to get 2 wins after the injury.

New juryo Asabenkei visited the city hall of his hometown Hiratsuka-city, Kanagawa. From Kanagawa prefecture he is a new juryo after 22 years, but from his hometown after more than 200 years, after Edogasaki, who had once a win against Raiden.
His kesho-mawashi will show Mt. Fuji as viewed from the Hiratsuka beach.

About 30 staff members greeted him in front of the town-hall.

Ex-Wakanosato visited his hometown to tell about his new work as oyakata and to call for attendance at his danpatsu-shiki end of next May: the mayor is head of his local koenkai and was of course happy to consent.

Hakuho (for the 24th time) visited the city hall of Sakai, Osaka area, where a yusho portrait of him is on display at the front entrance. The heya stays in Sakai for the Haru basho.

"Thanks to the injury I was able to rest for the first time in a while. It has been quite some time that I slept that much. I think it's necessary to also have such a rest that needs courage."

Shiba reported the makushita yusho to the mayor of his hometown Machida-city, Tokyo area.
He entered Kise-beya for Haru last year, from the Nichi-dai sumo club, and had the jonidan yusho in Nagoya last year (but hit the wall in makushita).
Next April at the Machida jungyo-basho he will be the 2nd local after Kitataiki, maybe even as sekitori (and Kitataiki maybe still in makuuchi).

He'll continue to wear chonmage until the hair is eventually snipped off during his danpatsu shiki in May. Then he reveals a fresh new look and haircut.

The young (18) Takanohana-beya makushita twins Takayoshitoshi (blue) and Takagenji visited the city-hall of their registered hometown Oyama-city, Tochigi - their parents (and apparently the family registry) moved there and the NSK changed their shusshin to there last April from their birthplace Sakai-machi, Ibaraki. Both could report an excellent result at the Hatsu-basho.
Takayoshitoshi: "I'll reach sekitori this year. I hope for your support."
Takagenji: "I want to become a stronger rikishi than the shisho Takanohana-oyakata"

Both in middle school were into basketball and were national 3rd with the Ibaraki team. Several high school had approached them, but both the parents advised them to and the sumo world eagerly invited them to enter ozumo.

Did he mean like right now or when he was active?

If not for their kimonos you can't tell them apart. Spooky scary!

Now even the courtesy calls by young and very low ranked rikishi are reported - thanks to the rising sumo popularity.
Jd Sasaki (15, Isenoumi) visited his home-town Oshu-city, Iwate, for the first time since entering ozumo for last Haru.
Apart from meeting the mayor (with members of the city's sumo association) to report his good Hatsu basho result (6-1), he went to the local agricultural cooperative to collect a food donation to the heya: 100kg of rice and 10kg of beef.
Aim for next basho: 4 wins

Nearly the same as last year, except that the 3 are now from Yamahibiki-beya

Juryo Kitaharima, real name Shimada, visited the city hall of his hometown Tatsuno-city, Hyogo pref., together with his younger brother jd Shimada and former maegashira Nionoumi (from Otsu-city, Shiga - his tsukebito now?), all from Kitanoumi-beya.

They first went to the local Nomi-no-Sukune shrine and then to the city hall. Kitaharima: "I'll make it to makuuchi this year." - Nionoumi: "I want to return to sekitori." - Shimada: "I want to go up to sandanme with a kachi-koshi."

Kitaharima: "I'll make it to makuuchi this year."

I was tempted to laugh out loud, but then I remembered Akiseyama...

And won't you believe it, he made it!
