Kishinoyama Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Day 14 West Ozeki GOEIDO (8-5) has withdrawn as of day 14. Injured while doing the henka? Just kidding! I have watched some replays online that show Goeido after the match was over and I don't see anything where he appears to be grimacing. Did I miss something during the match? Maybe he injured himself earlier in the tournament and kept on going?
Gurowake Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Previous mention of an injury before the basho for Goeido: http://www.sumoforum.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=33907&p=279055
Kintamayama Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 (edited) Left shoulder bone fracture? 左肩峰剥離骨折 (Left shoulder peak avulsion fracture? Turtle wax?) - 4 weeks to heal. "The left shoulder has two fractures. He was injured during the Hakuhou bout and actually since yesterday was in no shape to do sumo. Now he will absorb himself in the healing process. It's a real shame that we have to put a damper on the final days.." said Sakaigawa Oyakata. BTW, the injury before the basho was in his right shoulder. Now it's in the wrong shoulder as well. 5th sekitori kyujo this basho. Edited May 23, 2015 by Kintamayama 2

Doing a full contact tachiai with someone as big as Kaisei is no joke (although Kaisei is kinda fluffy so that might soften the blow a bit :) )
Asashosakari Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 Left shoulder bone fracture? 左肩峰剥離骨折 (Left shoulder peak avulsion fracture? Turtle wax?) - 4 weeks to heal.Yeah, avulsion fracture of the left acromion, which is a word I'd never heard of before now.

Maybe Germans don't have it? :-O
Shikona Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 We certainly have it here in America, where the acromion is one of the bones involved in a shoulder impingement, which I have in my right shoulder causing chronic pain in the shoulder and biceps.
Washuyama Posted May 23, 2015 Posted May 23, 2015 (although Kaisei is kinda fluffy so that might soften the blow a bit :) ) I think that's the first time I've heard of a sumotori referred to as "fluffy." Made me laugh a little bit! (Laughing...)

Mhhh...
