Gurowake Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 (edited) Yes, Haru 2015 is not the upcoming basho, but this is a pre-Hatsu 2015 game as the goal is to guess, in order, the top 6 Maegashira on the Haru 2015 banzuke before Hatsu 2015 has happened. While it's in the form of GTB, it's more attempting to guess how the non-Ozeki rikishi in the top half of Makuuchi will do and then trying to work out how that will affect the next banzuke. You get one point for each of the following, cumulative: Each of your picks ranked in the top 20 on the banzuke for Haru 2015 (generally through M5, but it might change based on additional sanyaku slots; for future events, this number will always be the number of Ozeki+Yokozuna on the just-released banzuke plus 14). (Weak hit) Each of your picks ranked M1-M3. (Mediocre hit) Each of your picks at the correct rank irrespective of side of banzuke. (Good hit) Each of your picks at the correct rank including side of the banzuke. (Bullseye) So for each bullseye you get 4, each good hit you get 3, each mediocre hit you get 2, each weak hit you get 1. To make things even more interesting, you may enter (or change your entry) late. For each day of Makuuchi bouts that have started before your final entry, you lose two points. I doubt anyone will intentionally use this, but who knows? Regardless, I feel given the nature of the game it's reasonable to allow late entries with a slight handicap. Tiebreakers: 1st: Most bullseyes 2nd: Most good hits 3rd: Most mediocre hits 4th: Points scored on prediction for M1e 5th: M1w 6th-9th: etc. 10th: Earliest entry. For non-winners: Shukun-sho: Most points from bullseyes and good hits. (minimum 7) Kanto-sho: Most points from mediocre and weak hits. (minimum 5) Gino-sho: Most points from rikishi currently ranked in the top 16. (minimum 3) Rankings of some sort may or may not be issued after the Haru banzuke is announced. Gurowake Posted December 30, 2014 Author Posted December 30, 2014 Slight change to tiebreakers to have the rules correspond with how I actually sorted the standings for the first instance of this game. It's far easier to change the tiebreaker rules (that are fairly arbitrary anyway) to match my mis-implementation than put in more work to implement my original rules. None of the awards relied on any tiebreaker calculations, so that's not an issue. The 5th-9th tiebreakers now look at points scored on one's prediction for the banzuke slot (starting at M1e) instead of points scored due to prediction of the rikishi who ends up on the banzuke slot.

Gurowake Posted January 7, 2015 Author Posted January 7, 2015 This thread's fallen off the first page and hasn't had any further entries in almost a week. I don't really care if I get any more or not (it's just more work for me!) but especially since the basho given in the name isn't the current one I'm cautious that it's being missed by those that might be interested.

(Jejima had 9, but won the yusho) (Bye, bye...) Just reading this.... Although the Yusho is of course the ultimate prize (Sigh...), I'm not sure that is should bar one from winning a special prize too? There is nothing in the above rules, that would bar someone from winning a Yusho and a special prize.... In fact, in Ozumo, wouldn't winning the yusho be more likely for that rikishi to be considered for a special prize?
Gurowake Posted March 1, 2015 Author Posted March 1, 2015 The introduction to the special prizes says "For non-winners". Should that be clarified further?
