Thanks kuroimori,

Mavs #41 didn't match any rikishi's shikona . I'll put you down for ms41w as your rank pick, but still need a rikishi pick....unless you want to stick with your 2014 pick - Shingaku.

Good day all,

No torch match on Day 1 as TORCH holder Jonokuchi 22 West / Kozakura are not on the schedule. Which means YOU STILL HAVE TIME TO ENTER OR UPDATE YOUR PICKS.

So far: we hit 50 entries (thanks Screeching Owl)! Much thanks and welcome to the new players. Much thanks to 2014 players who updated their picks. Much thanks to past players who missed the entry window last year and made it this year. With the extended entry time we should get over 50 entries....I'm still hoping CRALL, the game's only OZEKI can get a pick in. I haven't seen him on the forum lately so hope all is well.

Hot rikishi picks: SATO (7 picks!!!!!!!); SHODAI (3 picks); ABIKO, DAISHOHO, INABAJO, RYUDEN, TAKAYOSHITOSHI (2 picks).

Hot rank picks: overall, fewer Juryo picks this year as there seems to be less confidence the TORCH will make it higher than Makushita ranks. MAKUUCHI (1 PICK); JURYO (17 PICKS): MAKUSHITA (28 picks); SANDANME (2 picks); JONOKUCHI (1 PICK). Specifically: MAKUSHITA 3 WEST, 13 EAST (3 picks); JURYO 4 EAST, 7 EAST, 9 EAST, 10 WEST, MAKUSHITA 6 WEST (2 PICKS).

DUPLICATE PICKS: JASON & YAHOO have the same rank & rikishi picks. It's OK, but if either wants to modify their entry, there is still time.

from GURUWAKE: Is there anything regarding what happens if the torch bearer goes kyujo or intai? While unlikely later in the year, I'm somewhat concerned that it would happen when it's given to the rikishi lowest on the banzuke. That rikishi presumably did the worst of the Mz participants or the lowest ranked of the Jk rikishi who failed to win a match, and in the latter case I could anticipate that such a rikishi would have gone kyujo in the previous tournament and not be ready for the next tournament, whether due to retirement or still being injured. In the case of kyujo, applying the above rules would see the torch just waiting around until the rikishi returns and is somewhat reasonable if uninteresting, but there's no obvious solution if he goes intai.

A great point! I have thought about this since the game was born. My plan is if the starting TORCHBEARER goes intai without any player (other than wildcard) scoring a point, I will backtrack and start the TORCH with the second lowest ranking rikishi on the HATSU BANZUKE... and so on...

A special thanks goes to DOITSUYAMA and all who maintain sumo database -- which makes managing this game much easier.

Hope to see a few more entries. Again, totemo domo arigatos.

looks like Jonokuchi 22 West / Kozakura is scheduled for day 4. Until the match starts, there is still time for a 2015 entry/update. Good luck.

will there be updates on the Standings?

if i'm right, Kozakura (Jk22w) was torchbearer until day7 of hatsu

then Yamamoto (Jk18e) took over until the end of hatsu

haru he is ranked jd34w and kept the torch until day 4

now daishojo (jd35w) has the torch

is this correct? (Eh?)
