Why? If bullying/hazing was involved, it has to be made public ASAP and investigated by the authorities. Bullying is no peccadillo, it cost Tokitaizan his life. Who's next?

And if there was no bullying, the real causes for his intai should be disclosed by Brodi himself, to end these speculations once and for all.

Brodi doesn't owe us anything. It's up to him to decide whether he has something to disclose, whom to, when and how.

Then speculations will never end.

I ask again: Who will be the next Tokitaizan?

Given the situation I don't see how they would.

What the heck happened in Nikishido Heya?

They had 8 rikishi including Brodi. At the May Basho 6 of the 8, including Brodi, go kyujo. At the end of the May basho their 2 of those 6, the most senior rikishi, are intaied. Another 2 of the 6 have been kyujo since then. They haven't set foot on a dohyo since March.

The Heya itself has only ever had 1 other non-japanese rikishi, Kazafuzan Taiga. He was their best ever, but he was also a real charmer.

Given the history here I don't see how you get anything but speculation without clearing the air.

You have covered the known facts except that SOMEONE involved in the incident MAY be subject to legal action, and Brodi went intai in July.  We do not know the nature of the incident or who is the antagonist or who is the victim (if any).  From what we know, Brodi could have been an active, willing participant, or some kind of victim.  Until more facts are known, speculation is an exercise in futility.  Even if more details become known, this could well be something for which we will shrug our shoulders and go on with life. Do we really need to clear the air?

Do we need to? No, but I think the SUMO Association does. If something happened then they need to signal that they won't tolerate it. Just punishing the guys on the sly doesn't send that message. If nothing bad happened then they need to say that  instead of allowing it to appear that something did. Which it certainly does appear something bad happened. There is nothing routine about that situation.

Can we just...

I would like to know also, but am willing to put it into the same category as Kintamayama's hairline, and never really knowing what happened.

I apologize for the inaccurate time stamp, just didn't feel it was worth the extra effort to correct it.

A fine young man. I believe an injury was not being treated successfully to his perception  coupled with a constant Bullying that was allowed to get out of hand and was racially motivated. made it impossible to continue.

This is closest to the truth.

Thank you for the confirmation.  The pain associated with a physical injury plus the stress of racially motivated bullying must of been unbearable.  Give Brodi my best.
