yorikiried by fate Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) Overall, 43 foreigners on the current banzuke. Last basho we were at 42, which was the lowest number since March 2002 September 2001! Edited March 26, 2014 by yorikiried by fate
Kintamayama Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) No surprises, four promotions to Juryo for the next banzuke, one newcomer and three returnees. Debut: Ichinojo (Mk3w, 6-1, Minato-beya) Without back to back yusho? Tsk tsk.. Edited March 26, 2014 by Kintamayama 4

yorikiried by fate Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 On each picture Ichinojo looks like he has been doing this for 25 years. Very promising.
Usagi Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 He will hit the wall in Makuuchi. He hasn't got the skilla in movement and technique to become Ozeki someday. My guess.
Jakusotsu Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I don't know why, but everytime I watch Ichinojo fight, I think of Kotonowaka. 1
Akinomaki Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 Ichinojo will just turn 21 next month and is in ozumo in his 3rd basho in Natsu - maybe the youngest among those who were that fast to sekitori: he might improve yet in many aspects.I don't know what the maezumo record for Kyushu is for on his page: http://sumodb.sumogames.de/Rikishi.aspx?r=12107I don't think that should count as a career basho and let him have one additional (maezumo) basho on his record.
Doitsuyama Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 True, mae-zumo makes no sense for him. But his Hatsu dohyo WAS Kyushu 2013 and a rank for him is neccessary for the database. Maybe simply banzuke-gai is better.

Maybe simply banzuke-gai is better. This is where I have to bring up that the Kyokai actually adjusts the hatsu-dohyo after the fact for all the "delayed" foreigners, e.g. Narantsogt's profile currently says March 2014, but this will change to May 2014. As there are no other rikishi in the DB with a debut basho as banzuke-gai (I think?), would it be possible to adjust these rikishi to have Bg for the first basho, and have the basho counter only start with the second tournament? Or does that break the DB architecture? Edited March 28, 2014 by Asashosakari 2
Ruziklao Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 No surprises, four promotions to Juryo for the next banzuke, one newcomer and three returnees. ... Takanoyama (Mk3e, 4-3, Tagonoura) Glad to see Takanoyama has 15 chances for surprising victory instead of 7 again. :) Go, Takanoyama! :) 3
Pippooshu Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 (edited) When has been closed the Naruto? Why? All the former Naruto rikishi are in Tagonoura now? Kisenosato, uncle Waka and the czech hero only? :-) Edited April 5, 2014 by Pippooshu
Naganoyama Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 On Christmas Day last year former Takanotsuru switched from the Naruto name to Tagonoura and the stable name therefore changed.
