Torideyama Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 And that's the ballgame. East Makushita #46 Chiyoarashi(5-0) oshidashi East Makushita #54 Masutoo(4-1) West Makushita #24 Nishikigi(4-1) uwatenage West Makushita #7 Kizenryu(5-0) No way for Masutoo to get into any more Torch bouts. Have to hope Kizenryu drops the torch to a low Makushita, or it will be headed to Juryo. Well, it was fun while it lasted. Yoohoo
shimodahito Posted September 23, 2014 Author Posted September 23, 2014 for Yoohoo. IF the TORCH goes to Juryo for Kyusho, and IF the TORCH finishes the basho in lower Juryu ranks, your Ms2w pick will certainly pick up some bonus points. And anyone who scores even one point will certainly be moving up in the Banzuke.

shimodahito Posted September 27, 2014 Author Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) Good day all, The Kise-heya failed to allow the TORCH to reach Juryo for Kyushu, however it has been a great basho in all divisions. chishafuwaku Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Shimodahito, why did you insist in chishafuwaka? Maybe I should call you Shimodahita... ;-) chishafuwaku
Torideyama Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 (edited) New Banzuke Abiko - makushita 4E Torch starts just 4 places above where it started last basho. Masutoo - ms24E He probably won't see the torch unless he can start 4-0. But my ms2W rank pick is in a good position, if the torch stays near the top. Good luck all. Gambatte! shimodahito Posted November 2, 2014 Author Posted November 2, 2014 (edited) good day all, As Torideyama pointed out, the TORCH position for Kyushu (the last basho of TORCHBEARER 2014) is Rikishi Abiko and Rank Makushita 4 East. TORCHBEARER is a prize game and the prize is ready to send to the winner at the end of this basho. Most players don't have any points, but remember, there are bonus points in this game. 10 points to the closest rank pick and closest rikishi pick, more point offerings if you're in the bonus zone, and 25 points if your pick matches the final TORCH position. Who's currently in the zone for bonus points? Well, if the basho ended with Abiko/Makushita 4 East: Rank pick bonus points would go to -- charliki, Furanohana, Holleshoryu, Kintamayama, kuroimori, Saruyama, shimodahito, Simon, Wamahada, & Yoohoo. Rikishi pick bonus points would go to -- chishafuwaku (got it right, finally), Holleshoryu, Hoshihitomi, Kiritsubaki, Saruyama, Terarno, & Wamahada. good luck to all. shimodahito Posted November 22, 2014 Author Posted November 22, 2014 (edited) good day all,TORCH 2014 was almost a repeat of TORCH 2013 with a low Makushita ranking for the final TORCH position, and only 7 players involved in TORCH MATCHES. Our tally of TORCH MATCH points picked up during the TORCH 2014 journey:14 points - Hoshihitomi10 points - Yoohoo 10 points - chishafuwaku 4 points - Mmikasazuma 2 points - wildcard 1 point - Kintamayama 1 point - Wamahada And now to add the final points. Again like 2013, only 2 entrees collected points by finishing within 10 places of the final TORCH positions (or being the closest final position to the torch). Next year, the 10 closest participants will get points.Final TORCH RIKISHI: HIGOARASHI (closest pick - shimodahito)Katsunofuji.....(10 points for closest pick: shimodahito) Chiyokiryu.....1Takamisato.....2Daikamikaze....3Kotaro.........4Tetsuyuzan.....5Goshi..........6Tochinobori....7Shiba..........8Tenichi........9Shoketsu.......10HIGOARASHI.....25 - final TORCH RIKISHIMitotsukasa....10Fukugoriki.....9Oazuma.........8Kotokuzan......7Daichi.........6Kaorofuji......5Sasakiyama.....4Aratoshi.......3Tsurubayashi...2Sasayama.......1 Wakakeisho...... The prize will be on the way. Yoohoo deserves the honorable mention and would have been a co-yusho winner had Chiyosakae/Ms25e won the last TORCH MATCH (which would have given him 4 final points). In 2011 we had 3 players hit the bullseye, in 2012 1 hit the bullseye, and this year none. Profomisakari still holds the record of 59 points. Thanks for participating and I hope you all can update your pick or, if a new player, submit a pick for next year. You can send your TORCHBEARER 2015 picks to me now, or wait until the Hatsu banzuke is released. An invite (with rules for new players) will be out soon. Pick one rank and one rikishi where you think the TORCH will be at the end of the year. This sumo game has a prize. New players are always welcome.Again, thanks. -shimodahito Edited November 22, 2014 by shimodahito 1
shimodahito Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 good day all, Here's how 2014 would have finished if played with the new 2015 rules: - The TORCH MATCH point tally would be unchanged: standings: 14 points - Hoshihitomi10 points - Yoohoo 10 points - chishafuwaku 4 points - Mmikasazuma 2 points - wildcard 1 point - Kintamayama 1 point - Wamahada - but for the FINAL TORCH points, the closest 10 rank picks to the final rank (Makushita 49 East) and 10 closest rikishi picks to the final rikishi (Higoarashi) would get points. 25 FINAL TORCH RANK (none) 10 Ajisen 9 Pitinosato 8 Leonishiki 7 Lord Chozo 6 Derek 5 Achiyama 4 Andonishiki 3 Terarno 2 Kofuji-ICAN 1 Hoshihitomi 25 FINAL TORCH RIKISHI (none) 10 shimodahito 9 nomadwolf 8 Andonishiki 7 Derek & Furanohana 6 Yoohoo & Hitosubushi 5 Ajisen 4 charliki 3 Ganzohnesushi 2 Achiyama & Mmikasazuma 1 Terarno 22 players would have finished with points (and kudos to Ajisen, Derek, Achiyama, Terarno for getting close with both rank and rikishi). I look forward to the new scoring and welcome new and returning players for TORCHBEARER 2015. -shimodahito
