Senshuraku:

Everything that counts for 2013 is now in the bags. And surprisingly, we have a number of winners to announce!

Kyushu Masters:

And the winner is: Kitakachiyama, and by quite a stretch! Congratulations to his first Green Mawashi! He received the yusho in Bench Sumo Makuuchi, Hoshitori Game and Paper Oyakata, the jun-yusho in Ozumo Bingo, and several smaller scores in Chaingang, Oracle, UDH, Odd Sumo, and Quad for a whopping 72.33 Masters points.

The Masters jun-yusho goes to Jejima with exactly 42 points. Among his accomplishments are a jun-yusho in Paper Oyakata, a shared jun-yusho in Fantasy Sumo, and strong performances in Ozumo Bingo, Juryo Game, and TTT.

Third place goes to ScreechingOwl (37.50 points), based on a Bench jun-yusho, a Juryo Game jun-yusho, an extended Toto jun-yusho, and some GTB points.

The shukun-sho goes to Rupatengu, the only player other than Kitakachiyama to win two yusho. He succeeded in Chaingang (as Hadakanosato) and Sumo Game. It's his first ever sansho.

The gino-sho is awarded to ScreechingOwl. His worse gaming category was of the pre-basho flavor where he received 15.50 points (12 for Juryo Game, 3.50 for GTB). It's also a debut sansho for him (though he already won the Masters once).

And the kanto-sho goes to Ganzohnesushi. Apart from non-eligible Kitakachiyama, he was the better-placed of only two players to score in six different games (the other was Gibuten). This is the first kanto-sho for Ganzohnesushi.

Congratulations to all the winners!

World Championships:

And we have a new World Champion! Congratulations to Andoreasu for a really great performance over the year! I guess that this title was more than deserved, given that he achieved a new points record in spite of not playing all SB games. It's the fourth World Championship title for a German player (the other three being Mariohana, Flohru, and Doitsuyama). On senshuraku, he lost his lead in Oracle (a single point less resulted in 9.50 lost Masters points!), but on the plus side he regained the lead and the title in TTT.

Pandaazuma never really got off the ground in Kyushu basho, and a third place in Odd Sumo was his standout performance. On senshuraku, he won in Toto and Sumo Game, but this did not amount to very much.

Oskanohana landed in third place, a position he kept throughout Kyushu Basho.

Randomitsuki had his usual decline on the home stretch, but after a very good first week this was enough to achieve fourth place.

Norizo rounds out the upper half of the top 5 in a quite inconpicuous basho.

Yesterday, we had a two-way fight for sixth place which developed into a three-way fight in the end.

From this triel (that's a neologism for a duel among three people) Tosahayate emerged victorious and grabbed sixth place. After Jakusotus pointed out my Bench scoring error, Kitakachiyama squeezed into 7th place, sending unfortunate Ganzohnesushi to eighth.

Kotononami stayed ninth while Konosato finished tenth.

The other players achieving more than 100 points: Flohru in 11th, ScreechingOwl in 12th, Gonzaburow in 13th, Mariohana in 14th, Jakusotsu in 15th, Doitsuyama in 16th, Asashosakari in 17th, and reigning Champion Taka in 18th.

Kanto-sho: Pandaazuma (36 finishes among the top 10)

Daily World Champion: Pandaazuma (145.87 daily points)

Pre-Basho World Champion: Andoreasu (147.28 pre-basho points)

And these are our game-related World Champions:

Guess the Banzuke: Asashosakari

Kitakachiyama actually won the Bench Makuuchi yusho on tie-breaker.

Drats! I should better read the BS posts! That changes everything!

Well, not really, but anyway...

OK, standings have been amended (see post abolve), much to the dismay of ScreechingOwl and Ganzohnesushi (who dropped from 7th to 8th in the Championships). Sorry for the confusion.

I am very happy to have won the championship. :-)
Thanks to the game masters, game inventors, programmers, gyojis and players - and, of course, very special thanks to Randomitsuki!

Thanks so much for the hard work, Rando...these reports make it a lot more interesting and enjoyable. I am very happy and content with the title of daily gaming world champion and also world champion of Juryo Game, Odd Sumo and...my fave...Sumo Game.

Congratulations to Andoreasu on a fantastic year of gaming. A very worthy overall winner indeed. Look forward to renewing the rivalry in 2014.

And great stuff from everyone. Is it just me or are the winners of the Masters each time getting monster scores these days??

Congrats to all winners. Amazing performance by Andoreasu thru the whole year but also Kudos to the Panda who never gave up and put pressure on Andoreasu 'til the very last day.

Missed my own target in finishing better than last year (7th) but ranked no. 8 is not that bad. Some bad luck on Senshuraku cost me Hoshitori Yusho (if Osunaarashi had won, I would have easily won). And a wrong decision (after half an hour of thinking I finally decided tp pick Homasho instead of Azumaryu) prevented a big surprise Yusho in TTT. All in all I'm happy with my 8th rank.

Thanks to Randomitsuki for all his efforts to create this always entertaining report.

Easy to explain. With the shrinking number of players there are less contenders for Master points in each game and the liklihood to grab a few points in the one or the other game has increased significantly.

(Yusho winner...)

Yessssss!!! I have finally made it!!!! (Clapping wildly...) After 11 years of playing sumo games (6 years of playing all Super Banzuke games). Although 72.33 points is not as impressive as it would be 2 or 3 bashos ago ;-).

And congratulations to my wife-to-be Aome for winning Ozumo Bingo Game, even though she is a little mad at me for having won more ;-)

Wow. Andoreasu even has two different kesho-mawashi!

Yes, the blue one is for the daily games (not true, but sounds good).

Speaking of two photos, I received two great photos from Pandaazuma showing double-yusho winner Rupatengu in various poses. Check them out at the Kyushu Masters page.
