As I know that many of you are avid fantasy sumo gamers, you might be interested in playing fantasy football games at the official Euro2004 site. (Clapping wildly...)

http://www.euro2004.com/fanzone/index.html

In Fantasy Football, you select a squad with 15 <s>rikishi</s> players, and select 11 for your <s>bouts</s> matches, using at most 100 million Euros. Familiar concept.

Your fantasy team will participate in various leagues, and you can even create your own league. You are all very welcome to join the league SumoForum! Access code is 37435-7469. Deadline on Saturday.

Czech Republic has beaten France in Stade de France (only two teams did it : Russia 3-2 in 1999 or 2000 I don't remember,

Israel, 3-2 a few years back.. France was left out of the Cup because of this loss.

Israel won in Parc des Princes in 1993. (And many other teams won in Parc des Princes :-D)

Stade de France is the stadium of French football team since January 1998 and a victory against Spain (1-0, goal by Zidane). :-(

And I have forgot to talk about Belgium who won in Stade de France too (2-1); in May 2002, before French team went to Corea/Japan. :-)

So, 3 teams won. ^^

The SumoForum league has been disbanded in favour of the Bench Sumo league. Aderechelsea, please join that one instead. :-S

I see France and Portugal as the favourites. Czech Republic and Sweden are secret favourites. Germany has a strong group and will reach the Quarter-finals with some luck.

I hope you are right ... I think anything is possible in group C. It is the only group where all four teams won their qualifying group (not that it matters now, but anyway). The first round will be indicative of how the teams have prepared mentally.

I joined the Bench Sumo League in Fantasy Football. (Dribbling...) Now I'm waiting for the basho eeeeh... tournament.

well if you expect a vote for Greece from me you can just forget it........

we are crap and i cannot believe the players that we have in out team .....  :-P

Are you ready to revise your statements now ...? :-S

Congratulations Greece! Excellent game.

And, in French sport' newspapers, Greece is mentionned as THE outsider of this Euro :-P (they make a comparison with Denmark of 1992 :-S)

Was this from L'Equipe? France Football? After seeing the first game of the Euro, I'm quite impressed with that prediction! Those guys have probably been following Greece's qualifying campaign (they won in Spain, didn't they?) quite closely, and found out that Rehhagel is really doing a good job!

i am very happy now but i will hold on to those cheers for a couple of days more...

it was a convincing win but the team must prove itself now that they will be favourites against Russia.

As for the qualifiation round , we had a solid unbeaten run (including some friendly games) but we were not that good. The game in Spain was a very lucky one.

They were punding us and we just had our keeper in a good day. Then we had a shoot from a long distance that went in and nothing more in offence. They were not happy at all with that loss and they might try to take revenge ..... :-P

Tough game on Wednesday.....

Greece played excellently yesterday. Although Portugal's magicians had some good scenes (Figo, Ronaldo, Deco), they didn't play together and that's what you have to do in Football. Greece had also a great defense.

Message of pride in Englands 1-0 lead against France with 8 minutes to go deleted and replaced with one bemoaning loss by 2 goals to 1 due to injury time goals.

Now I know how Hokutoriki must have felt.

Bummer!

(In a bad mood...) (Depressed...) :'-( :'-( :'-(

Was this from L'Equipe? France Football?

France Football, which had the calendar inside. :-)

Adere ? B-) Greece may be a good outsider :-)

And we, French, have the greatest luck of Europa :-D really really lucky with this game... :-)

I remember the Champions League Final 1999 between Bayern Muenchen and Manchester United which was nearly the same: Bayern got the early lead and wasn't able to score a 2nd goal and ManU scored in 91' and 93'.

What a great match between England and France. B-) They were running and working all the time, especially that young boy Rooney from England was very good. But Zidane is simply a genius on the soccerfield.

.

Comparison I made too - but the England players today weren't running around waving to the fans before the game was over like the Munich guys. B-)

Their arrogance lost them that game :-D

Plus Munich didn't have a dead horse like England's number 4 today - slow, mistakes all thorugh and the prick who made the bad back pass - Liverpool player named Gerard. (In a bad mood...)
