According to the db, Shikihide was open as a heya from 1940-43 and 1951-54, then 1992-present.  From the rikishi listed, Sensho was the only Shikihide Sekitori in this or the last century.

FWIW the database also claims a Shikihide sekitori from 1894-1897.

Ex-Takamishu, actor Taylor Wiley (Hawaii Five-0) has died on the 20th at age 56, said to be by natural causes, but no details are published so far. o

Wow, I had no idea Wily had gone into acting. I really remember his quick rise up to Makushita. Anyone remember a showdown match between him and Kushima in 1988 or so? He blitzed the former college yokozuna off the dohyo in like a couple seconds, my memory tells me. Really thought he'd become the first sekitori in Azumazeki, but twas not to be. RIP.

Wow!  He appeared in 171 episodes of "Hawaii Five-0" and basically hated to work outside of Hawaii (which may have restricted his career possibilities).

Former Makuuchi Kimurayama (Iwatomo Oyakata) has passed away at age 42. He had been hospitalized since May and undergoing treatment. Cause of death unclear at this time.

Ex-komusubi Chiyotenzan has died on the 28th at the age of 48. His physical condition had deteriorated lately after fighting against illness for years. After intai he had run a restaurant in Wakayama pref. His funeral will be for close relatives only.

Till Onosato surpassed him last basho, he had the record with 3 sansho in a row after makuuchi promotion.

Ex-Ozeki Asahikuni, later Ooshima Oyakata (77) who brought the first batch of Mongolians to Japan, has died. Was ill for a few years. Entered Tatsunami beya in 1963, retired in 1979, then established his own heya (Ooshima) in 1980 and brought six Mongolians over, Kyokushuuzan, Kyokutenhou (the current Ooshima Oyakata) and others, who were famous for collectively running away from the heya and attempting to return to Mongolia, but persuaded to stick it out.  Notable non- Mongolians- Kyokudouzan (later became a member of the Diet, IIRC) and ex-Asahiyutaka, current Tatsunami Oyakata. Nickname while active- piranha, because he was small and would eat his opponents alive, I guess.
