Regretfully, I will not be able to do the videos this coming Basho- Maybe I'll manage days 1 and 13-14-15 only. I will be in the States between March 11th-21st (talk about timing)- Miami and NY- touring with the band. If anyone is around and wants to meet, maybe we can schwing it..

I'm sure there will be no shortage of clips as The Master will surely be doing his thing.

Sorry..

I'm going to miss your humour very much Kinta, i wish you the best of luck with the tour! (Punk rocker...)

Completely unacceptable, I am afraid. Get your priorities straight, man... Whoever heard of people putting work, fun and traveling ahead of informing us lazy bastards errr... ahead of constructive forum participation, I meant to say? What is this world coming to, I wonder...

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo..................... :'-(

Seconded due to the great humor instilled in the videos. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to go in person... (Sigh...)

5 days, 8 hours and counting down.

It must have been a while since Hakuho fought from that side of the dohyo. It's a wonder he knew which direction to go

Miyabiyama will win some, I guess. The lower juryo crew is not that skilled at moving mountains, specially the likes of Tokushinho and Akiseyama who are heavy and clumsy enough themselves. But it will be painful to watch. (Help me...)

I missed the "Takarafuji wins... and still has no neck". Enjoy your trip ! (Punk rocker...)

My Day 2 Highlights :

Y/O : Kisenosato 1-0 vs Myogiryu 0-1, though 5-1 head-to-head, Myogiryu has already shown signs of a great

S/K : Tokitenku 0-1 vs Baruto 1-0, the Estonian still suffering from a bad knee against a knee kicker ?

M1 : Aoiyama 1-0 vs Yoshikaze 0-1, 1-2 in previous encounters, last basho still won by the latter

M2 : Takarafuji 1-0 vs Jokoryu 1-0, in which was their first ever encounter & a funny fight

J1 : Tenkaiho 0-1 vs Takanoiwa 0-1, a tough decision as it was difficult to tell

J2 : Takanoyama 0-1 vs Oniarashi 0-1, another hard one to call

Ms1 : Rendaiyama 0-0 vs Daigofuji 0-0, with Rendaiyama having won their 4 first encounters, Daigofuji the last

Ms2 : Sasanoyama 0-0 vs Tenichi 0-0, will the Kise guy close a bit of the gap to Kise-mate Jokoryu ?

Sd1 : Masumiura 0-0 vs Amuru 0-0, how fast will the Russian giant make it back to Juryo, if ever ?

Sd2 : Masutoo 0-0 vs Takamiryu 0-0, 1-1 head-to-head, but already from 2006

Sd3 : Wakarikido 0-0 vs Satonofuji 0-0, who had met once before, 5 years ago, almost equally ranked as now

Jd : Kotomatsuo 0-0 vs Tanno 0-0, while Hitenryu and Tamao had easy victories & fast forward style sumo

Jk : Kotoseigo 0-0 vs Majima 0-0, both 3-1 at Mz last basho

While yesterday Ms was interesting, now it was Sd, in which we also witnessed Watanabe's 16th loss in a row.

Harumafuji got reprimanded by his oyakata for making a wrong turn in the dohyo iri (at 2:05) for the second day in a row. He faced to the hall's front (camera) side with his back, which is taboo.
The reason is his entering from the other side (east) as before this time.

Though not so sharp, Kimikaze's loss of form is also worrisome. No kachi-koshi and a 15-15-30 record since last March when he claimed the Juryo-yusho with 12 wins. It slightly reminds me of Satoyama's poor run from 2007, but with the former injury (read knees) problems are more pronounced, as evidenced by the two kyujo in a row and his immobility on the dohyo.

My Day 3 Highlights (probably the most exciting day of the tournament) :

Y : Harumafuji 2-0 vs Takayasu 0-2, and 3-0 H2H, but even then you felt like this wasn't a walk-in-the-park

O1 : Kakuryu 2-0 vs Myogiryu 1-1, 3-4 head-to-head, with Myo even winning 4-in-a-row

O2 : Tochiozan 1-1 vs Kotoshogiku 1-1, and 8-8 head-to-head, so Giku only ahead due to higher rank

O3 : Chiyotairyu 1-1 vs Kotooshu 1-1, will he be there to stay or drop away before having another say ?

S/K : Goeido 2-0 vs Baruto 2-0, more out of interest than the actual fight

M1 : Gagamaru 1-1 vs Shohozan, aka milky vs brownsuga

M2 : Aoiyama 1-1 vs Jokoryu 2-0, though often high anticipation leads to deception

M3 : Sotairyu 0-2 vs Sagatsukasa 1-1, don't mess with the mini men

J1 : Wakakoyu 1-1 vs Takanoyama 1-1, former Sanyaku rikishi down to Juryo

J2 : Miyabiyama 1-1 vs Yoshiazuma 1-1, another one, the biggest of them

J3 : Satoyama 2-0 vs Asasekiryu 2-0, and number 3, though Satoyama having won last basho

Ms1 : Kamei 1-0 vs Chiyoo 1-0, who will reach Juryo first ?

Ms2 : Endo 1-0 vs Hamaguchi 1-0, not to be missed

Ms3 : Tatsu 1-0 vs Wakamisho 1-0, two young giants

Ms4 : Osunaarashi 1-0 vs Kyokutaisei 1-0, unsteady as he goes

Ms5 : Iwasaki 0-1 vs Kihonoumi 0-1, a minor misstep or more trouble ahead ?

Ms6 : Akinoyama 0-1 vs Daieisho 0-1, what will the latter do after his first ever MK ?

Sd1 : Kotodairyu 0-1 vs Ohara 0-1, small vs tiny

Sd2 : Masutoo 1-0 vs Daichi 1-0, the latter only lost to Masutoo last basho, in which both scored a 6-1

Sd3 : Minatosho 0-1 vs Aragyoshi 0-1, athletic fighting

Jd1 : Arishima 1-0 vs Sato 1-0, the latter having won two previous basho, in Mz & Jk

Jd2 : Kitanomine 1-0 vs Ranbo 1-0, they could have been father & son

Jk : Miyamoto (0-1) vs Azumayama (Jd 0-1), by lack of better bouts

There was so much to handle today, and I even left out quite some other good stuff & upsets.

I'm also quite afraid they didn't leave much for day 4 in Makushita. :-P
