Kintamayama Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 (edited) Regretfully, I will not be able to do the videos this coming Basho- Maybe I'll manage days 1 and 13-14-15 only. I will be in the States between March 11th-21st (talk about timing)- Miami and NY- touring with the band. If anyone is around and wants to meet, maybe we can schwing it.. I'm sure there will be no shortage of clips as The Master will surely be doing his thing. Sorry.. Edited March 24, 2013 by Kintamayama 1

Bugman Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 I'm going to miss your humour very much Kinta, i wish you the best of luck with the tour! (Punk rocker...)
krindel Posted February 27, 2013 Posted February 27, 2013 Completely unacceptable, I am afraid. Get your priorities straight, man... Whoever heard of people putting work, fun and traveling ahead of informing us lazy bastards errr... ahead of constructive forum participation, I meant to say? What is this world coming to, I wonder... (Band playing...) 1
Mukonoso Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 (edited) Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo..................... :'-( Seconded due to the great humor instilled in the videos. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to go in person... (Sigh...) 5 days, 8 hours and counting down. Edited March 10, 2013 by Mukonoso 1

Gernobono Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 My Day 1 Highlights (so far) : J1 : Miyabiyama - Takanoyama some kind of joke? 1
Jakusotsu Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 My Day 1 Highlights (so far) : J1 : Miyabiyama - Takanoyama some kind of joke?Just to illustrate how full the coffers of Miyabi are, I presume.
Akinomaki Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Jk : Onosho - Ishiura I liked Ishiura best among the newcomers last basho - and the meeting of these two, who finished top, is really worth watching (especially as Ishiura won :-) ).
ChrisC Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 It must have been a while since Hakuho fought from that side of the dohyo. It's a wonder he knew which direction to go
Andrasoyamawaka-zeki Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Day 1 playlist http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3oHIWgGXp-8kipAuYh_CVUOb_eVBLPDL&feature=view_all Thanks !!!!
shumitto Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 Miyabiyama will win some, I guess. The lower juryo crew is not that skilled at moving mountains, specially the likes of Tokushinho and Akiseyama who are heavy and clumsy enough themselves. But it will be painful to watch. (Help me...) I missed the "Takarafuji wins... and still has no neck". Enjoy your trip ! (Punk rocker...) 1
Mukonoso Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 (edited) My Day 1 Highlights (so far) : J1 : Miyabiyama - Takanoyama some kind of joke? I'm hoping for a good basho for Tak this time. Edited March 10, 2013 by Mukonoso
Vikanohara Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 My Day 1 Highlights (so far) : J1 : Miyabiyama - Takanoyama some kind of joke? I thought it was an entertaining bout.
Vikanohara Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 My Day 2 Highlights : Y/O : Kisenosato 1-0 vs Myogiryu 0-1, though 5-1 head-to-head, Myogiryu has already shown signs of a great S/K : Tokitenku 0-1 vs Baruto 1-0, the Estonian still suffering from a bad knee against a knee kicker ? M1 : Aoiyama 1-0 vs Yoshikaze 0-1, 1-2 in previous encounters, last basho still won by the latter M2 : Takarafuji 1-0 vs Jokoryu 1-0, in which was their first ever encounter & a funny fight J1 : Tenkaiho 0-1 vs Takanoiwa 0-1, a tough decision as it was difficult to tell J2 : Takanoyama 0-1 vs Oniarashi 0-1, another hard one to call Ms1 : Rendaiyama 0-0 vs Daigofuji 0-0, with Rendaiyama having won their 4 first encounters, Daigofuji the last Ms2 : Sasanoyama 0-0 vs Tenichi 0-0, will the Kise guy close a bit of the gap to Kise-mate Jokoryu ? Sd1 : Masumiura 0-0 vs Amuru 0-0, how fast will the Russian giant make it back to Juryo, if ever ? Sd2 : Masutoo 0-0 vs Takamiryu 0-0, 1-1 head-to-head, but already from 2006 Sd3 : Wakarikido 0-0 vs Satonofuji 0-0, who had met once before, 5 years ago, almost equally ranked as now Jd : Kotomatsuo 0-0 vs Tanno 0-0, while Hitenryu and Tamao had easy victories & fast forward style sumo Jk : Kotoseigo 0-0 vs Majima 0-0, both 3-1 at Mz last basho While yesterday Ms was interesting, now it was Sd, in which we also witnessed Watanabe's 16th loss in a row. 1
Akinomaki Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 Harumafuji got reprimanded by his oyakata for making a wrong turn in the dohyo iri (at 2:05) for the second day in a row. He faced to the hall's front (camera) side with his back, which is taboo. The reason is his entering from the other side (east) as before this time.
shumitto Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 While yesterday Ms was interesting, now it was Sd, in which we also witnessed Watanabe's 16th loss in a row. Though not so sharp, Kimikaze's loss of form is also worrisome. No kachi-koshi and a 15-15-30 record since last March when he claimed the Juryo-yusho with 12 wins. It slightly reminds me of Satoyama's poor run from 2007, but with the former injury (read knees) problems are more pronounced, as evidenced by the two kyujo in a row and his immobility on the dohyo.
Vikanohara Posted March 12, 2013 Posted March 12, 2013 My Day 3 Highlights (probably the most exciting day of the tournament) : Y : Harumafuji 2-0 vs Takayasu 0-2, and 3-0 H2H, but even then you felt like this wasn't a walk-in-the-park O1 : Kakuryu 2-0 vs Myogiryu 1-1, 3-4 head-to-head, with Myo even winning 4-in-a-row O2 : Tochiozan 1-1 vs Kotoshogiku 1-1, and 8-8 head-to-head, so Giku only ahead due to higher rank O3 : Chiyotairyu 1-1 vs Kotooshu 1-1, will he be there to stay or drop away before having another say ? S/K : Goeido 2-0 vs Baruto 2-0, more out of interest than the actual fight M1 : Gagamaru 1-1 vs Shohozan, aka milky vs brownsuga M2 : Aoiyama 1-1 vs Jokoryu 2-0, though often high anticipation leads to deception M3 : Sotairyu 0-2 vs Sagatsukasa 1-1, don't mess with the mini men J1 : Wakakoyu 1-1 vs Takanoyama 1-1, former Sanyaku rikishi down to Juryo J2 : Miyabiyama 1-1 vs Yoshiazuma 1-1, another one, the biggest of them J3 : Satoyama 2-0 vs Asasekiryu 2-0, and number 3, though Satoyama having won last basho Ms1 : Kamei 1-0 vs Chiyoo 1-0, who will reach Juryo first ? Ms2 : Endo 1-0 vs Hamaguchi 1-0, not to be missed Ms3 : Tatsu 1-0 vs Wakamisho 1-0, two young giants Ms4 : Osunaarashi 1-0 vs Kyokutaisei 1-0, unsteady as he goes Ms5 : Iwasaki 0-1 vs Kihonoumi 0-1, a minor misstep or more trouble ahead ? Ms6 : Akinoyama 0-1 vs Daieisho 0-1, what will the latter do after his first ever MK ? Sd1 : Kotodairyu 0-1 vs Ohara 0-1, small vs tiny Sd2 : Masutoo 1-0 vs Daichi 1-0, the latter only lost to Masutoo last basho, in which both scored a 6-1 Sd3 : Minatosho 0-1 vs Aragyoshi 0-1, athletic fighting Jd1 : Arishima 1-0 vs Sato 1-0, the latter having won two previous basho, in Mz & Jk Jd2 : Kitanomine 1-0 vs Ranbo 1-0, they could have been father & son Jk : Miyamoto (0-1) vs Azumayama (Jd 0-1), by lack of better bouts There was so much to handle today, and I even left out quite some other good stuff & upsets. I'm also quite afraid they didn't leave much for day 4 in Makushita. :-P 1
Vikanohara Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 (edited) My Day 4 Highlights (what a difference a day makes, 24 little hours) : Y : Harumafuji 2-1 vs Chiyotairyu 2-1, another upset ? O1 : Kisenosato 2-1 vs Tochiozan 2-1, 11-7, but T-zan having won 3 of the last 5 O2 : Tochinoshin 0-3 vs Kotooshu 1-2, the Georgian vs Bulgarian, 3-11 head-to-head O3 : Kakuryu 2-1 vs Baruto 3-0, important test for Bart S/K : Goeido 2-1 vs Aminishiki 0-3, Goeido strong favourite, though 10-9 head-to-head M1 : Kitataiki 2-1 vs Shohozan 2-1, with Kitataiki having won their only encounter so far M2 : Takekaze 2-1 vs Daido 1-2, both 30+ J1 : Asahisho 2-1 vs Kotoyuki 0-3, both relegated from Makuuchi last basho J2 : Oniarashi 1-2 vs Chiyootori 3-0, Yusho candidate ? Ms1 : Kotokuni 0-1 vs Chiyoarashi 0-1, two former Juryo rikishi Ms2 : Dairaido 0-1 vs Aisaka 0-1, 17 vs 4 years in ozumo Sd1 : Uno 1-0 vs Amuru 1-0, a worthy opponent ? Sd2 : Orora 1-0 vs Hokutotsuru 1-0, strange ending Sd3 : Tosayutaka 1-0 vs Mutsukaze 1-0, fully recovered or not yet ? Jd : Toofuji 1-0 vs Tamao 1-0, former Sd31 vs former Ms21 Jk : Omori 1-0 vs Ishiura 1-0, you don't always have to outweigh your opponent Edited March 14, 2013 by Vikanohara 2
Yubinhaad Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 M2 : Takekaze 2-1 vs Daido 1-2, both 30+Fancy footwork from Kimura Hisanosuke in the Takekaze-Daido bout. (Sign of approval...) . . Jk : no footageJonokuchi bouts have been added. Another nice shitatehineri win for Ishiura.
Vikanohara Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 (edited) My Day 5 Highlights, part I (lower divisions) : You might want to start from the bottom to save the best for last. :-P Ms1 : Kitaharima 2-0 vs Kamei 2-0, Kitaharima close to return or Kamei dreaming of becoming a sekitori ? Ms2 : Kotokuni 0-2 vs Kawanari 0-2, 2-2 head-to-head, hanging in the balance while dancing on the tightrope Ms3 : Osunaarashi 2-0 vs Wakamisho 2-0, happy slapping Ms4 : Aisaka 0-2 vs Iwasaki 0-2, suddenly the cookie starts to crumble ? Ms5 : Daieisho 1-1 vs Sasanoyama 1-1, both reached Makushita within a year Sd1 : Suekawa 2-0 vs Tosayutaka 2-0, somehow reminds of Sd2 : Dainin 2-0 vs Saio 2-0, Dainin already won last year, will he do so again ? Jd1 : Hokuyozan 2-0 vs Hakunoryu 2-0, just a good bout, that's all Jd2 : Sharinoumi 1-1 vs Sato 1-1, the latter suffering even one more defeat ? Jd3 : Hitenryu 2-0 vs Kawashita 2-0, Hitenryu on his way to his first Yusho ever ? Jd4 : Hayate 2-0 vs Ranbo 2-0, stop me from causing a small earthquake Jk : Ishiura 2-0 vs Miyakojima 2-0, skinny sumo & they almost fainted Edited March 14, 2013 by Vikanohara
Vikanohara Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 My Day 5 Highlights, part II (sekitori) : S1 : Harumafuji 2-2 vs Myogiryu 2-2, will our Yokozuna drop 3 kinboshi in a row ? S2 : Kisenosato 2-2 vs Chiyotairyu 3-1, another Ozeki scalp ? S3 : Kakuryu 3-1 vs Takayasu 1-3, the latter still a Maegashira, but potential Sanyaku material ? S4 : Goeido 3-1 vs Kotoshogiku 2-2, 12-8 head-to-head, so Giku actually against the odds M1 : Tokitenku 1-3 vs Aran 2-2, 9-2 head-to-head, though a former Komusubi against a former Sekiwake M2 : Toyohibiki 0-4 vs Shohozan 3-1, 2-3 head-to-head, with Toyo having won the first & last time M3 : Tamawashi 1-3 vs Kyokutenho 1-3, 4-6 head-to-head M4 : Chiyonokuni 2-2 vs Jokoryu 3-1, In Nagoya 2011 a sekitori vs one just making his debut J1 : Homarefuji 1-3 vs Kotoyuki 0-4, about time for that first victory, no ? J2 : Takanoiwa 1-3 vs Daikiho 3-1, really an oshidashi ? J3 : Wakakoyu 1-3 vs Tokushinho 1-3, unexpectedly entertaining bout J4 : Seiro 2-0 vs Kagamio 1-3, worthy of Juryo or not (yet) ? And a couple of ugly tachi-ai out there. >:-( 1
