yorikiried by fate Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Honorary mention goes to Musashimaru for 60 KK in his first 61 basho. The sole MK (2-5) came at Ms11w in his sixth basho. Basho 62 was a 2-2-11 at Y1e. 2
sashimaru Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 By the way, what was the longest KK-streak by a rikishi starting from the very bottom?I don't know how to query that, but Kotooshu comes to mind who had his first MK at Komusubi in his 14th basho.Yes, that wretched guy used to be really good. No, he was only different. He had always new opponents. So no one could adjust to his style. As komusubi his opponents knew him and were able to adapt. 1
Senkoho Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 And that MK constituted no less than a half of all his career MK (not counting kyujos).
VictorDiVarca Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 This guy had 18 KK before his first MK. :) http://sumodb.sumogames.de/Rikishi.aspx?r=1 This guy will be always my #1
yorikiried by fate Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Sure, but he seems to always have dropped out after Day 10 of every basho. 1
Kaioshoryu Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 I might have misunderstood this topic, but what about Sasanoyama: http://sumodb.sumogames.de/Rikishi.aspx?r=11972 He hasn't had a MK yet as far as I can see, just a kyujo.
Ashikawazu Posted May 31, 2013 Author Posted May 31, 2013 I am pretty sure Kyujo officially counts as an MK, as it leads to a reduction in rank.. So Sasanoyama wasn't included.
Ashikawazu Posted July 14, 2013 Author Posted July 14, 2013 (edited) Nagoya is halfway through: In Juryo, both Osunaarashi and Endo doing well, both on their way to another KK. For the non-sekatori, Ishiura still remains undefeated, and picked up his KK, and Onosho likewise off to a good start at Nagoya, both staying away from the wall at least till the Aki basho. In Jonidan everything looks standard; 2 kk's and 2 mk's after 4 bouts... Final wrap up: Endo had a big basho, taking out the Juryo Yusho, and his 3rd consecutive KK. Osunaarashi also had a good first performance as a sekitori, posting a very respectable 10-5 and extending his KK streak to 8. Our long term member Hamaguchi, when kyujo halfway through, and finally hit the wall at Nagoya. Hopefully he recovers and rallies for Aki. Others worth mentioning: In Sandame, Ishiura and Onosho continued their strong performances, and thier KK streaks. While Kaiho and Baraki both hit the wall at Nagoya. In Jonidan, wall member Daishoho took the Jonidan Yusho. krindel Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 If Hamaguchi went kyujo for the rest of the basho, then that's about it for his streak :-(
Asashosakari Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 I might have misunderstood this topic, but what about Sasanoyama: http://sumodb.sumogames.de/Rikishi.aspx?r=11972 He hasn't had a MK yet as far as I can see, just a kyujo. Looks like Sasanoyama's first for-real MK might be coming up this basho, he's 1-3 right now. Another ongoing case like that is Fukushima, BTW.
aderechelsea Posted July 15, 2013 Posted July 15, 2013 i think that Sasanoyama will at least get to the 3-3 mark quite easily after all. His opponents are definitely in his range after the 0-3 start (he wasn't as bad as the record indicates) and a small KK is in reach. I would actually bet on his KK even after the horrible start. and for the record .... i am with Kaioshoryu on this one. An absence from a basho does not count as "hitting the wall". A fighting MK on the other hand most definitely is. Rikishi that never had a real MK should be included in the list. At least they should be mentioned in a different list. same goes for Fukushima. Or anyone that never lost more than he won in a basho when he actually was entered in the torikumi
aderechelsea Posted July 16, 2013 Posted July 16, 2013 well ... Sasanoyama went MK after all .... (Sigh...) (In jonokuchi...) but i still believe that rikishi that only had absences and never a fighting MK they should be in this list. At least with a "*" next to their name... 1
Ashikawazu Posted July 17, 2013 Author Posted July 17, 2013 (edited) The reason I don't add them for kyujo MK's, is it just becomes ambiguous then. Take for example Hamaguchi. Would you consider him to still be on the list next basho? What if he had won his first three and then went absent? What if he lost his first three and then went absent? Does one situation warrant an avoidance of the wall more than the ohter? Most definitely.. It just gets messy, and you have to draw the line somewhere. Anyway.. both those guys have hit the wall this basho.. so issue resolved itself for now.. (Sigh...) Edited July 17, 2013 by Ashikawazu
aderechelsea Posted July 17, 2013 Posted July 17, 2013 for the record i only meant we could include rikishi that missed a whole basho (0-0-7) or had only one fusen-pai on day 1 and were absent for the rest of the basho (0-1-6) in general. If you never get in the dohyo in a basho i don't consider it a real MK. but i guess i can keep my own stats for this situations. B-)
Vikanohara Posted July 19, 2013 Posted July 19, 2013 What has happened to this guy after he met the wall ?
Ashikawazu Posted July 22, 2013 Author Posted July 22, 2013 (edited) Aki after day 15: Wrap up: Osunaarashi keeping up with his strong performances, another good KK and hence he'll Join Endo in the top division next basho. Endo performed well, got his KK, but an injury in the later stages of the basho prevented him from double digits. Hope he'll recover for the November basho. Other rikishi to watch: Ishiura: Although faced a bit tougher competition in Makushita division, still had a solid performance of 5-2 for his 4th KK, and a career record of 25-3. Horikiri: Took the Jonidan Yusho. Koba: Three very solid performances, Aki gave him another 6-1, for a carreer record so far of 18-3. See you at Kyusho!
