TORCHBEARER 2013: invitation, rules, and your picks

good day all,
the 2012 prize was sent to kuroimori who should be receiving it shortly.
so it's time for the once-a-year invite to the easiest picking game of them all because your picks last a whole year!

here's how it works.
the torch will start with the last rikishi and last rank on the 2013 HATSU BANZUKE (rikishi/rank at the bottom of jonokuchi). when the holder of the torch has a bout, this is called a TORCH MATCH. the winner of the TORCH MATCH keeps the torch. with the torch always passed to the winner, through the year, it will eventually make way up the banzuke. the object of the game is to pick one rank and one rikishi that you think will end up with the most points throughout the year's six bashos.

THROUGHOUT THE YEAR:
3 points for every torch match your chosen rikishi wins.
3 points for every torch match your chosen rank wins.
1 point for every torch match your chosen rikishi loses.
1 point for every torch match your chosen rank loses.

THEN AT THE END OF THE 2013 KYUSHU BASHO:
25 points if you get the final torch holding rikishi.
25 points if you get the final torch holding rank.
OR (if the exact rank and/or rikishi is not chosen by a participant)...
10 points if you are closest to the final torch holding rikishi.
10 points if you are closest to the final torch holding rank.

PLUS SOME BONUS POINTS FOR THOSE WHO GET CLOSE TO THE FINAL TORCH POSITION:
10 points if your chosen rikishi is one position from the final torchholder, 9 points if two positions, 8 if three positions... and so on down to 1 point.
10 points if your chosen rank is one position from the final torchholder, 9 points if two positions, 8 if three positions... and so on down to 1 point.

the player with the most points at the end of the year will get a prize.

for historical reference, here's where the torch ended up in previous years:
2006, J2w
2007, Ms33w (highest position J7w)
2008, J7e (highest position J6w)
2009, J5e (highest position J3e)
2010, Ms58e (highest position J3e)
2011, J6e (highest position J4w) -- in only 5 basho!!!
2012, J2e (highest position J1e)

please submit:
1) the name of the rikishi you think will get the most points between now and the end of the 2013 KYUSHU BASHO.
and
2) the rank of the rikishi you think will get the most points between now and the end of the KYUSHU BASHO.

deadline for entries is before the first hatsu match starts... JST. send entries to shimodahito@yahoo.com or post on sumoforum or sumotalk or the tipspiel forum.

the "wildcard" pick, by default will be the lowest rikishi and rank on the HATSU BANZUKE-

i've already received a few entrees. thanks.
good luck! so easy...one rank pick, one rikishi pick... no daily picks needed.

good day all,

The TORCH starts at the bottom of the banzuke -- with Arishima & Jk15E. He had no bout today which means the TORCH hasn't started.... which means you still have time to enter a prediction. Good Luck all!

If a rikishi goes intai with the torch, divine intervention will be needed....

if the torch holder is injured and goes kyujo, he usually keeps the torch until he returns (this has happened at least twice during this game). if he doesn't return an goes intai, divine intervention will be needed... probably back track and restart the torch with the last known holder.

last year, the torch didn't get started until day 4... i do start to get worried.

and... just checked. arishima is on tomorrow's (day 4) torikumi. whew!
