Here is an 'annual poll' about Harumafuji.

Please put down your prediction in the comments below, so we can reflect, and announce a yusho winner at the end of the year....

Please also include your guess at the 'Doitsuyama Bonus question' - namely the most wins-in-a-row that Harumafuji will be able to string together during 2013. He lost his last bout of 2012, so will start from scratch on day 1 of the January basho.

This one was started by Kaiguma.

I say....

He will be ranked on the January 2013 banzuke at Y1W (behind Hakuho).

He will have 3 bashos with 12+ wins

He will end up with a total of 69 wins for the year.

His longest winning streak will be.... 14 wins.

Position Yokozuna 1W

I think he'll end up skipping a basho, so his wins should go to the 61-65 range.

I predict 3 basho with 12 wins or more.

And for the bonus question, lets call it at lucky 13.

Y1w / 4 / 71-75. He will alternate between trying to look like a yokozuna and doing the things that got him there. And he will put together a streak of 16.

He will be suggested to retire in 2013.

He will have 2 bashos with 12 or more wins.
No more than 46-50 and only if he manages to escape retirement early in 2013

Y1w

3 basho with 12+ wins (and 3 basho where some MIB from the NSK babbles something like "must win at least 12 next time...")

Year record 61-14-15

longest win streak: 12

retirement talk will keep circulating all year long

Yokozuna west (Hakuho will be sstill better)

in four out of six bashos he will achieve 12+ wins

good 71-75 wins

edit: Bonus question: my cruel guess: 10 wins in a row, not more

The vast majority of us think Harumafuji will start next year as he began this one - ranked at Y1W.

No-one thinks he'll get at least 12 wins for every basho in 2013 - with the preferred option being for 3 - or just half of the bashos.

There is a big spread as to the actual number of wins for the year, but the most voted for option is 66-70. This equates to an average of 11-11.66 wins per basho.

Harumafuji's rank is Y1E on the January 2014 banzuke (as predicted by just one player).

He only had two bashos where he recorded 12 or more wins - in both of his two yushos.

His total number of wins for the year was 69 (falling in our most popular vote bracket.)

His longest streak was 17, starting on day 1 of the January basho.

Vikanohara gets the yusho!
