Kintamayama Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) Yes, a bit late, but not early: Edited November 25, 2012 by Kintamayama 13
Morty Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Managed to watch it live today but enjoyed the recap. Thanks once again. Enjoyed seeing Jokoryu in the top flight. The thing I like about him is he went straight for the belt rather than trying to slap his opponent out. Makes me think he might live up to the hype. And I'd put money on there only being four ozeki after this basho...
ronnie Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 And I'd put money on there only being four ozeki after this basho... As many as that? ;-)
Gusoyama Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Interesting stuff. Trying to figure out who Jokoryu reminds me of. Young Miyabiyama? I dunno. I liked Harumafuji's dohyo iri, it was very precise, if not as powerful as Hakhuho's.
yorikiried by fate Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Thanks for including the full dohyo-iri. I knew I would be able to see the bouts, but having missed Harunafuji's first time seemed much more regrettable. (Bow...)
Bugman Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Thank you very much Kintamayama. (Clapping wildly...)
krindel Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Yes, a bit late, but not early: Late again? Inexcusable... You are hereby found guilty and condemned to upload the videos of each day's action for the rest of us... Oh, wait... You are already doing that... Nevermind... Thanks again :-). 1
Akinomaki Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 I liked Harumafuji's dohyo iri, it was very precise, if not as powerful as Hakhuho's. But his hand slipped once. I think it was Kitanofuji who warned about the first honbasho dohyo-iri being error-prone.
Dr.Radical Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Thank you for including Harumafuji's first honbasho dohyo-iri, Kintamayama! I was curious to know if he had gained any swagger from his first performance.
Hageouryu Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Thanks to DowntownHyena for the Juryo selection - if this becomes a regular habit of yours, it will be an interesting addition to this thread...not trying to put any pressure on you (if it's there I'll enjoy it, if not, well that's OK too), but noticed that it was only your 2nd post on the forum. ...very welcome indeed. Thanks as always to Kintamayama. And regarding Harumafuji's first dohyo-iri, I seem to recall Hakuho's first was timed at about 1:25 or so, with Kitanofuji immediately suggesting that it would become less rushed with experience, and now it's typically, well, how long?.
Pocari Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Not very early, and not too late: Again a very big thank you Kinta! (A yokozuna...) (First prize...) (A yokozuna...)
kaiyo Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 i noticed Haku's elbow again right away - BOOO Haru lost - lets see how confident he's now...
Gusoyama Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Holy cow, it sounds EMPTY in the stands. I hope that the hew and cry doesn't go out about Harumafuji's promotion being a bad one if he goes 10-5. It is common for a new Yokozuna to get 10 or 11 wins in their first basho at the rank.

Kuroyama Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Did Asahisho slip on his own salt? :-D It's possible, when you're up against a well-seasoned opponent. 5

Kintamayama Posted November 14, 2012 Author Posted November 14, 2012 Day Four: (If it was day 5 I could have said Day Five Spices, dang it..) Wait-Day Four-ikake!! (Lame, but lame..) 6
Koorifuu Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Harumafuji sure doesn't hold back on harite despite the warning!
Kaioshoryu Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Looking back at the day 3 bouts, I have to say I'm totally fascinated by the belly slap gripchange that Hakuho used in his bout... Should have it's own name!
