Finishing 27-1. On the 29th 25 bouts. "My body is getting better." "A good feeling. Every day doing one's best while tasting the happiness of going after one's dream." Kintamayama Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) Baruto went to Kitanoumi beya yesterday to meet others from Tamanoi and Kise. He had 12 bouts and won them all. At the weigh-in he tipped the scales at his heaviest ever of 193 kilos. "I don't feel bad during keiko, but I'm too heavy. I will be going on a diet to lose 10 kilos," he declared. He was already down to 190 two days ago. Edited August 30, 2012 by Kintamayama
Kintamayama Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Harumafuji went for degeiko at Tokitsukaze today and singled out Toyonoshima for some sanban geiko, winning 10 out of 12. "My opponent was low, so I had to get low as well.. I think it was good keiko.." he mused somewhat later.
Kintamayama Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) Kisenosato went to the Nishonoseki Ichimon rengo keiko today and faced Kotooushuu and Kotoshougiku. Kisenosato was 9-8. Kotoshougiku was 9-9 and Kotooushuu was 4-7. "My body is still not tight.. I wanted to do more forward moving sumo but I had too many hesitant tachi-ais.." said Kisenosato. Kintamayama Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 (edited) Ozeki Kakuryuu faced the likes of Aminishiki and Gagamaru- 17 bouts but no results Gibbon. He was seen being overwhelmed by Aminishiki. "He was overwhelmed. He should be overwhelming!!," confided Izutsu Oyakata . "That was bad.. It happens to me during the basho as well.." reflected Kakuryuu. Edited August 30, 2012 by Kintamayama 1

Kiseshougiku: So, he's actually practising that crap in keiko now? Did anyone pull a henka?
Igordemorais Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Kisenosato and his tachi-ai bullshit. Here's a hint: GET UP AND PUSH
Kintamayama Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Kisenosato was 15-1 against Kotoshougiku and Kotooushuu at the Nishonoseki Ichimon rengo keiko held at Takadagawa beya today. He especially owned Kotoshougiku going 11-0 against him. "It's only the keikoba..I'd like to improve the content of my sumo and go forward and forward," said Kisenosato.
Kintamayama Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Hakuhou trained at home today and lent his chest to his prodigy Daikihou (Yamaguchi) the new sekitori, sweating well. Tomorrow is the YDC soken, closed to the public this time. "I hope to train with the young guys," he said, alluding to Myougiryuu and Aoiyama, the two sanyaku up and comers. He intends to set up a keiko session at the beginning of next week with Harumafuji. "There's that thing from last basho.." he hinted. 1
Kintamayama Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 (edited) Harumafuji ran into some trouble today when he went for degeiko to Tokitsukaze beya. The trouble was Kakuryuu, who dominated him 8-5 in their bouts. He was easily beaten and pushed out a few times and was seen favoring his left ankle, an old injury. "Everything was as usual. I'm fine," he reassured the press. "I think he may have been a bit tired," explained Kakuryuu later. As for tomorrow's soken- "I'd like to face Kisenosato.." said Harumafuji Edited August 31, 2012 by Kintamayama 1

Immediately after tachi-ai, inviting the opponent into a favourable position.
Igordemorais Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I can not, for the life of me, comprehend why there is such a steep disparity in skill level at the top echelon of a sport.
Igordemorais Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Kisenosato going 15-1 against Kotooshu and Giku, for instance.
Asashosakari Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 (edited) It's practice, not serious competition. Maybe the Kotos were testing out new tactics that didn't work. Maybe they were nursing a hangover after hosting heya supporters the previous evening. Maybe they just plain didn't feel like doing keiko that day but had to show up because it was a scheduled group session. Maybe they were playing mind games with Kise. Etc. etc. Lots of possibilities that we're not privy to - don't take the numbers too seriously. Edited August 31, 2012 by Asashosakari 1
shumitto Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 FWIW Kotoshogiku has always had miserable records at keiko. His style demands tons of horsepower to be effective and he won't spend it on a mere keiko session.
Akinomaki Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 (edited) Kisenosato was 15-1 against Kotoshougiku and Kotooushuu at the Nishonoseki Ichimon rengo keiko held at Takadagawa beya today. He especially owned Kotoshougiku going 11-0 against him. "It's only the keikoba..I'd like to improve the content of my sumo and go forward and forward," said Kisenosato. On the 30th he was only 7-5 against Kotoshogiku. The late former Naruto-oyakata demanded: "full power starting at the keiko place", as a method to overcome a feeling of weakness towards opponents hard to deal with. Before becoming ozeki Kisenosato had 6 losses in a row against Kotoshogiku, afterwards 3-1. Edited September 1, 2012 by Akinomaki 1
