yorikiried by fate Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 What I don't get is why Takanoyama's opponents don't habitually retreat far away from the shikiri-sen before the tachi-ai. No use to go for the blast if your foe will fade away 95% of all instances. Just stand up and hunt the weasel down, dyaknowaddamean?

No use to go for the blast if your foe will fade away 95% of all instances. Just stand up and hunt the weasel down, dyaknowaddamean? The people you are telling this to are the ones - or the same kind - who would go all out on Roho, Hakurozan and co. Few seem to tailor their tactics according to the foe of the day. Plus, there is no use in moving forward too hastily if you have someone so light as a feather to defeat. But they don't care. Edited July 19, 2012 by shumitto
Asashosakari Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Well, there's also the little matter that some stables seem pretty big on instilling their rikishi with a duty to perform "proper" sumo, and I suspect that means not doing a tachiai that is expressly designed to respond to an expected henka.
kuroimori Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Kisenosato will be called to the referee department before the bout on day 13 to get a reprimand for bad tachi-ai. His hands were repeatedly not down on day 12 and he ignored the head shimpan who cautioned him from below the dohyo. And rightly so. His antics against Baruto were disgusting, and he even got away with a win. I agree, it was very disatisfying to watch and Kise did not deserve that win. (in my opinion) Today Kise was a good boy and put both hands down, but this time the Geek didn't and was called for a matta.
ChrisC Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Can't wait to see Harumafuji's win again. He just about pushed him out of the stadium
Kintamayama Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 The upload speed today is breaking all records.. It's almost an hour now and still not done..
Pocari Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Can't wait to see Harumafuji's win again. He just about pushed him out of the stadium Next time, could you wait until after the video is posted? I'd rather not know outcomes in advance.
Vikanohara Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) One video from lower division today, Uno vs Fukuzato : http://www.youtube.c...Aqek?autoplay=1 As I found it a pretty unusual one. :-P Edited July 20, 2012 by Vikanohara 1
yorikiried by fate Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 And one more: Loved the resolution of that!
Mukonoso Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Thanks again for taking the time to post another video Kintamayama. It looks like Takanoyama is doing his Jean-Claude Van Damme impersonation again with his splits.
Bugman Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 A pattern with Harumafuji seems to be "go for the head and obscure the senses to cause imbalance", will that work on the Yokozuna? Has Hakuho noticed and does he have an answer? i sure hope so :-)
yorikiried by fate Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Well, it's not like HF started to use nodo-wa attacks only this week, is it?
shumitto Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 I think Uno played his last card there. ;-) I think he has a long way to go .
Nabuko Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) Uno has used these leg grabbing techniques. Edited July 20, 2012 by Nabuko
yorikiried by fate Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Man, I'm glad his shikona isn't Ufo. Talking of which: Best bandname ever: Ufomammut!
The_Arrow87 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Man, I'm glad his shikona isn't Ufo. Talking of which: Best bandname ever: Ufomammut! hehe yay Ufomammut are great. Surprised another user here knows them. :-D About Uno, yes he seems to use those leg grabbing kimarite often. Already 7 ashitori wins.
Jakusotsu Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Talking of which: Best bandname ever: Ufomammut! Very nice. Thanks for educating.
Kintamayama Posted July 21, 2012 Author Posted July 21, 2012 Some bad new for some of you..It' looks like I won't be able to do the senshuraku videos, much like Kotooushuu last basho. It sucks especially seeing the way this basho is going to climax... I may be able to partially upload lower Maegashira-but I won't have the extra half hour needed to do it all unless some miracle happens. Reason-band suddenly called to do a gig on a cruise ship for 5 days, meaning the video will be up on Thursday at the earliest. The port is a 45 minute drive, and that is the crucial point.. Sucks totally. Still, hoping for a miracle, like a two-hour delay of departure, for instance....
Kintamayama Posted July 21, 2012 Author Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) Day 14-should be up in 20 minutes-slow upload again.. Edited July 21, 2012 by Kintamayama 5

I guess we are all lucky enough to get any video, but I really do hope you can follow the senshuraku dou-zensho yusho sen live 'n' direct before rushing to the cruise gig! Igordemorais Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Kintamayama, the brazilian sumo fans thank you! Thousands of people view the brazilian sumo thread and your videos and you have helped introduce hundreds of new fans to the sport, some of which became extremely passionate! 1
Bugman Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) Wow! high drama at the end, i honestly don't know who was at fault there, maybe both of them? the Hak-Haru fight should be very memorable hopefully :) Edited July 21, 2012 by Bugman
