Achiyama Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 (edited) In other words...bye bye! No need for bye bye! There is still the Bench bowl to play for (Looks like I will aiming for that bit of trophy-ware....), as the 3rd and 4th placed teams will have their own little competition. I am busy trailing through all 500+ of the emails from the Bench World Cup, in order to give full rules for the knock-out stages.... Hopefully, for later today. I am hoping (working on the basis...) that all group gyojis will be willing to continue for the knock-out stages (please let me know if you don't wish to). They will each be assigned one Cup and one Bowl match-up for the quarter-finals.... Although I think I'll be out of the official 1/4 final stage, I'll continue my Gyoji duties till the end. Just let me know what I have to do. Edited June 18, 2012 by Achiyama
Jakusotsu Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Simple for me now...Ireland have to beat Italy Well, Ireland's coach should know a thing or two about their opponent. B-)
Andonishiki Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Was erlauben Schdruuuuunz ? Trainer ist kein Idiot !!! Trappatoni's quotes will live in history !
Kameumi Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 I am hoping (working on the basis...) that all group gyojis will be willing to continue for the knock-out stages (please let me know if you don't wish to). They will each be assigned one Cup and one Bowl match-up for the quarter-finals.... Unfourtunally I'm unable to continue gyoing in the knock out stage as I am right now in the middle of drawn out movingprocess and will not have the time. :-(
Jejima Posted June 18, 2012 Author Posted June 18, 2012 Unfourtunally I'm unable to continue gyoing in the knock out stage as I am right now in the middle of drawn out movingprocess and will not have the time. :-( No worries! Would there be a volunteer to take Kameumi's place? :-)
Harry Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Is understanding the rules and scoring a job requirement? :)
chabonowaka Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 i would say not really, i'm gyoji'ing group c, and i'm terrible. also a public apology to jejima for never turning in my quarter-final penalty takers.
Jejima Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 Is understanding the rules and scoring a job requirement? :) Not really ;-)
Jejima Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 Happy to volunteer if no one else has come forward Many thanks!
Jejima Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 Hi all, Better late than never... Time to Announce the referees for the quarter-finals Give out the rules for the quarter-finals Request Penalty takers for the semi-finals I think I've gone through all the relevant old posts, and now need to piece the rules together in something easy-ish to understand....
Jejima Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 Okay, first up, the referees.... Referee: Andonishiki Cup match 1st Group A vs 2nd Group B Bowl match 3rd Group A vs 4th Group B Referee: XiaoTan Cup match 1st Group B vs 2nd Group A Bowl match 3rd Group B vs 4th Group A Referee: Chabonowaka Cup match 1st Group C vs 2nd Group D Bowl match 3rd Group C vs 4th Group D Referee: Achiyama Cup match 1st Group D vs 2nd Group C Bowl match 3rd Group D vs 4th Group C I am hoping that this works out, so that XiaoTan won't be refereeing his own match. Should that arise, I guess I'll step in for that one (or switch him with one of the other referees....) - or we could just trust him :-) Maybe the simplest option?
Jejima Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 (edited) Can somebody / some people check these rules for me, to check for any inconsistencies and/or changes to the rules that we had back at the Bench World Cup, please :-) Rules for the quarter-finals. No-one gets knocked out of this competition! Even if you come 3rd of 4th in your group, you will still get to play on until the end of the tournament. Players in such a situation, will be playing for the 'Euro 2012 Bowl'. (Of course, those coming 1st or 2nd will be playing for the 'Euro 2012 Cup' in future matches.) Before the knock-out stages starts, all 'real' teams that are already knocked out of the competition will be removed from a player's squad. Further, all players will be allowed a free-choice to add another team (still in the competition) to their roster. Players failing to make their extra pick in time, will be allocated the lowest ranked (as per the original list) team still in the tournament (which I guess is Greece), that is not already on their squad - and put in last slot on the chain. All teams that are already knocked out of the competition will be removed from a player's squad. Players send their line-ups to their 'ref' - including their additional team (please indicate to the referee who that team is). Any player failing to make an entry will have a droning team, based on the line-up used for their third round match (with the knocked-out teams removed.) His new, additional team (Greece) will be added to the last position of the line-up. All teams on a player's team must be in their line-ups. If a player accidentally misses one or more, they are added to the end of the line-up that they have submitted in the order that they were in the line-up prior to that match. (I.e. 'semi-droning'). We play with the same rules as for the group stages (® and © teams keep their special attributes) - based on the results after 90 minutes. Any empty slots at the end of a players' squad are treated as 'losses'. (Theoretically, a player could have all eight teams still in his squad, but this is unlikely. It is likely, however, that one player in a match-up will have more teams in his squad than his opponent. The difference in the number of teams are treated as 'losses' to the player with the shorter squad. I.e. If Player A has 7 teams and Player B has 5 teams, Player B's slots 6 and 7 are treated as 'losses'.) If a player's © or ® team is facing an empty slot on his opponents line-up (so counted as an automatic 'loss' for the opponent), and that team loses, then the player with © or ® teams does not have his chain broken. Extra time Should the match end in a tie after 90 minutes, the players go into 'extra-time'. The results *after 120 minutes* from the real matches are now used (Matches won by a penalty shoot-out, are still considered 'drawn'). Extra time starts with the next slot after the place where the second team to have their chain broken, was broken. (I.e. Player A's chain broke on the 2nd slot. Player B's chain broke on the 5th slot. Extra time for both players starts from the 6th slot.) From that point onwards, all matches are considered after the 120 mins result (or 90 mins, if it did not go that far). If either chain remains unbroken (including the default losses to fill the empty slots) to the last team in the squad, the chain continues starting from the first slot again. However, all real matches that were decided in 90 minutes are now removed (so only the matches that had previously counted as 'draws', but which may now have a result after the 120 minutes, are now counted for this second run through). This 'start again' only happens once. The 'wrap-around' (I.e. starting from the first slot again for each player) stops immediately when it reaches the slot where extra time was started (so no team's results can be counted twice in extra time). In the special case that one (or both) players got to the end of his chain (including the 'default losses' in the empty slots) during the 90 minutes with it still 'unbroken', the chain continues in extra time from the first slot, but with all the matches decided after 90 minutes 'removed'. There is no further 'start again'. ® and © teams keep their 'special rules' in extra time. (I.e. an ® team getting a draw in the 90 minutes, may break the player's chain, but if they go on to win in extra time - if that match is considered for a second time - they could end up scoring two goals in extra time for the player. Similarly, a player whose © team scored a goal for a draw during 90 minutes of regular play, could end up scoring a second goal in extra time, should the © team also draw over 120 minutes). Penalties. If there is still a tie after extra time between the two players, we go to a penalty shoot-out. For this, the list of 11 teams already received by me will be used.. There will be a penalty shoot-out, with penalties being scored based on whether the players' predictions come true (of the teams progressing to the semi-finals). This will follow regular penalty shoot-out rules (I.e. there will be five penalties apiece, using the first teams in the list, followed by sudden death play-off, if needed, with the next six teams. If need be, we go back to the first five teams in the list again to continue the sudden death play-off. If there is still no decision after this, the player with the better disciplinary record will progress. If still undecided, the player with the better results at the group stage will progress. If still no decision, the player with the lowest ranked ® team (as per the original rankings based on bookmaker odds) progresses.) I think I might have said something different earlier, but these are the correct rules - as used at the Bench World Cup - and avoids having two drones cancelling each other out ;-) A player who did not send me their line-up for the penalty shoot-out (and I believe there are two of them), will have a 'droning penalty line-up' consisting of the teams in his squad (in order ®, ©, Y, O, S, K etc). The additional team added to their squad (either by election, or by default), takes the 8th position in their line-up. They do not have any penalty kickers for slots 9 - 11 - and will miss those 3 attempts (they do not go back to their first five choices, until their opponent is ready to do so too ;-)). XiaoTan Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Both matches in Group B are decided - and if I am not mistaken I come 2nd - I wouldn't trust myself with such a prestiguous award up for grabs!
Jejima Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 Semi-final penalty takers Please send me your penalty takers for the 'semi-finals' matches (NB: Not the quarter-finals - I already have those!). Please send me a list of all 8 teams still in the competition in order of likelihood that they will reach the *finals*. This penalty shoot-out will be done a little differently. Firstly, if the team reaches the finals, that is the equivalent of two penalty goals. If it loses in the semi-finals, it is just one penalty goal. The sudden-death element of the penalty shoot-out starts from the fourth selection onwards (instead of the usual sixth). The deadline for sending me your semi-final penalty takers, is the kick-off time of the first match of the quarter-finals. I.e. Thursday, 21st June, 20:45 Poland time.

That should work alright then! I have just noticed that there is a break of one day between the end of the group matches, and the first quarter-final, so if need be, there should still be enough time for some last minute jiggery-pokery.
Jejima Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 (edited) Okay, these are the matches to select from for your quarter-final line-ups..... (Which you may start sending to your referee :-)) Czech Rep vs Portugal Germany vs Greece Spain vs France England vs Italy Edited June 19, 2012 by Jejima
Andonishiki Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 I'd like to add GERMANY to my glorious team for the next round :-) (despite too many players from the -youknowwho- red vize team)
Andonishiki Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 pls allow a few extra hours after the final whistle today till my results & statistics are published, as I plan to watch the England game at a BBQ place with lots of Ingrishmen, so I might be tempted into a drinking competition.... one more note, I 'll travel to Munich Wed morning till Monday, during that time my internet access will be mostly limited to i-phone, that might also cause minor delays and formatting issues. Nevertheless, I'm eager to fulfil all gyoji duties and also win my quarterfinal match vs .....let's see... ALLEZ iNGERANDO
Andonishiki Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 alright then, here we go Group A -round 3 Jakusotsu beats Harinezumi 1:0 easy one, Jaku scores in slot 1 with Spain, chain breaks in slot 2 Hari had France in spot one.... adieu les bleus... non, not really Achiyama beats Kameumi 1:0 both had a loser in spot 1 and a winner in spot 2 (all N teams), so the third slot brought the decision with England for Achiyama, but Ukraine for Kameumi. Chain for Achiyama breaks in slot 4 with the Dutch
Andonishiki Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 Final Group A results after three rounds (all preliminary as usual) 1. Jakusotsu..... 9 points wins all his matches 1:0.... that's what we call EFFICIENT all other three have three points ( one win, two losses) we use UEFA rules, so the goal difference only for the games among these three count, while matches vs Jakusotsu are left out. Doesnt make a difference here, as they all lost 0:1 vs the frankonian master of efficiency. 2. Kameumi 3 pts 4:2 goals (won 4:1 vs Hari, lost 1:0 vs Achi) 3. Harinezumi 3 4:4 (lost 1:4 vs Kame, beat Achi 3:0) 4. Achiyama 3 1:3 (lost 0:3 vs Hari, beat Kame 1:0) Jakusotsu and Kameumi progress to the cup quarterfinals, while Nr 3. and 4. play for lower class silverware. givin my alcohol level, dear executive gyoji... PLS DOUBLECHECK thanks and til' tomorrow with statistics and more....

PLS DOUBLECHECK thanks and til' tomorrow with statistics and more.... I contest Andonishiki's decision, because my chain never broke. At slot #4 Netherlands © lost, but Kameumi's chain is broken at Slot #3. So, the decision has to be made according to Sitation #9, and not according Sitation #3. In this case Achiyama's win over Kameumi is 4:0, and NOT 1:0 (1 goal scored at Slot #3, 1 goal scored at Slot #5, and 2 goals scored at Slot #7). In this case I think Yakusotsu 9 points and Achiyama 3 points should go through to the next stage: Achiyama, Kameumi and Harinezumi: 1st tiebreaker - all three teams have 3 points (all lost to Yakusotsu) so between themselves every team has 1 W and 1 L 2nd tiebreaker - Goal difference between the 3 teams in question: Achiyama +1 (Lost to Harinezumi 0:3 and won against Kameumi 4:0) Harinezumi 0 (Lost to Kameumu 1:4 and won against Achiyama 3:0) Kameumu -1 (Lost to Achiyama 0:4 and won against Harinezumi 4:1) The final decison belongs to Honarable Executive Gyojis. chabonowaka Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 starting to tabulate group c now! (should be back soon)
chabonowaka Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 ok, here are your group c scores for round 3 of the group stages! (as usual, someone should check these.) game 1: Asashosakari (Croatia) vs. Rubensan (Spain) both players lose on the first slot, and win on the 2nd. then they both lose again on the 3rd slot, and we head to the 4th slot tied 0-0. there Rubensan's ® Spain and Asashosakari's © Portugal win, which givea one point to Rubensan! on the 5th slot, Rubensan's © Denmark loses, and his chain is broken! so he is done at 1 point. Asashosakari's Poland loses too, so he doesn't score. the 6th slot sees a couple of more losses, and then in the final slot, Rubensan's Greece breaks Asashosakari's chain as his ® Croatia loses. the game ends with a 1-0 victory for Rubensan game 2: Kintamayama (Italy) vs. Doitsuyama (Ireland) here both have Italy winning on their top slot, but Kintamayama has them as his ®, so he scores in the first slot! then right off on the 2nd slot, Kintamayama's France loses while Doitsuyama's Spain wins, breaking Kintamayama's chain, and taking the point back. things are even at 1 after 2 slots. the third slot sees both win with Germany, they aren't removed because they are Doitsuyama's ©, but no score. both players lose in the 4th and 5th slots, and then win in the 6th slot, so no more goals yet! finally in the 7th slot, Doitsuyama's chain is broken, as his ® Ireland loses. this game ends in a 1-1 tie! (be right back with the final group standings)
