Bad as my own performance has been, it's still been refreshing to see a variety of picks each day rather than the almost daily bandwagons of recent memory.

I'm on travel the second week which is going to make things a little difficult, but I'll be participating in the interest of not giving up the Y-E position without a fight.

Guess it didn't turn out to be much of a fight. Well congratulations to Asashosakari on becoming the top ranker.

Day 15 - Aran

Day 15 - Aoiyama.....

It all depends which route the torikumi's take. I wouldn't be too surprised if they were to delay the day 15 senshuraku until after *all* results are in day 14 - I am fairly sure that has happened at least once in the past decade.

Sansho awards in summary:

Starting off with the shukun-sho, awarded for the most consecutive correct picks. Only four players cleared the eligibility threshold of at least 3 correct picks in a row in this difficult basho - XiaoTan (2-4) had a streak of 3 days, and Asashosakari (9-12) and Jejima (1-4) managed to put 4 days together, but the prize goes to Andonishiki (2-7) for his impressive 6-day streak.

Next up, the kanto-sho which goes to the player with the shortest long streak of incorrect predictions. Again only a handful of players managed to remain eligible for the prize by having no streak longer than 4 days - Andonishiki, Kuroimori, Profomisakari, Shimodahito and Yaochoyama all had 4-day streaks on days 12-15 (Shimodahito additionally on days 1-4), trailing prize winner Asashosakari whose longest streak came in back-to-back wrong predictions on days 13 and 14.

And lastly, the gino-sho for which points are awarded on the following schedule:

3 points if you're the only win to make the correct pick

2 points if you're one of two to make the correct pick

1 point if you're one of three to make the correct pick

Lots and lots of points were handed out this basho - possibly the most ever? In the end, Asashosakari wins a second special prize by amassing 13 points, scoring on 6 different days.

For posterity the full list of gino-sho scorers in this potentially historic basho:

13 Asashosakari (2x3, 3x2, 1x1)

3 Jejima (1x2, 1x1)

3 Oshirokita

2 Andonishiki (2x1)

2 Holleshoryu

2 Jakusotsu

2 Kuroimori

2 Yaochoyama

1 Shimodahito

1 XiaoTan

Wouldn't be surprised if this is a record both for total points (31), number of players appearing on the list (10 out of 13), and days with points scored (9 different days).
