ok... my 2 yen opinions.

- game rocks.

- i'm not an advocate of a particular way the tie breaker is determined.... it could even be formulated from a combination of all three special prizes... or something that doesn't involve any of the special prizes.

- i do think a special prize could go for those who pick losers to win against rikishi with winning records, and pick winners to lose against rikishi with losing records with a point awarded for each (regardless if the player gets a point for the day).

- i'm ok with keeping it on the forum -- one stop shopping for my daily does of sumo updates -- and the forum offers a place for some conversation throughout the basho... "wow, that was gutsy to pick takayasu yesterday!" ... of course this is coming from someone who plays only one non-forum daily pick game (bench) so i'll bow to the majority.

- name... hmmmm.. well this game is all about 'even losers get lucky' and 'even winners get whacked' .... so there might be something there... Turn the Tide is not a bad choice.... Trend Busters? Torikumi Twist? Twist the Torikumi? Lucky Losers Whacked Winners? TWSTH (that wasn't supposed to happen!)? Kachi catchers Make makers? ... i'd like to hear some clever Japanese translation suggestions that would describe the game. WiLLoW is good, but somehow, got to keep the "e" on the end for Will Owe yaocho hook. WiLLoW? WiLLoW? WiLLoWé? WiLLoW, eh? (Canadian choice) or, my favorite, WいLLおWえ....

change my guess to

w yoshiazuma

l tsurugidake (kyujo)

is this within the rules?....guessing a kyujo-rikishi or the opponent.....

Day 7:

W Sotairyu

L Fujiazuma

That I'm avoiding ozeki and yokozuna bouts doesn't mean I'm above grabbing cheap points... The L pick was surprisingly difficult though, so I fully expect to lose today anyway.

No it isn't within the rules to pick a losing rikishi to lose... you know Tsurugidake is 0-6, so far away from winning, a regular occurence for rikishi going kyujo. The better question is what do with players who picked Sotairyu to win because that's a gimme now. Probably can't do much about that I guess.

An obscure rules question:

Hakuho (6-0) [6] vs Kyokutenho (0-6) [6]

If somebody picks Hakuho to lose tomorrow and another player picks Kyokutenho to win, does that count as a unique pick for both if Kyokutenho does the unthinkable? They predicted the same bout result...

Short answer: yes, if only to make my live easier. (They still needed to make a different second pick, so it's not completely identical.)

Yes. Fusen bouts are treated as normal.
