Kimyouzan Posted September 20, 2011 Posted September 20, 2011 I want to thank Kintamayama for posting those great matches very basho. I enjoy your positing here, Youtube everywhere. Tremendous appreciations! Me too! Kotoshogiku proved who's the next Ozeki (In jonokuchi...)
Treblemaker Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 There have been more double-henkas in this basho than I've ever seen before - I counted at least 6 up to Day 8, and today's was a beaut. I think there have been at least 8 or 9. I'm enjoying Takanoyama's agility, but I keep waiting for him to just get nailed and do a Peter Pan right out into the cheap seats. In other news, I notice Orora's got a nice 3-2 happening. Good to see.
Otokonoyama Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 I'm hoping there's an article somewhere after the basho detailing the efforts behind Gagamaru's downright unfathomable improvement in footwork and overall positional stability. He's gone from Supertosanoumi bowling pin fashion in all previous makuuchi appearances to near-Hakuho posture this basho. We'll see if it lasts against better competition in the final few days and in the next basho, but considering how hapless he had previously looked against guys he's now beating left and right...well, I'm stunned. So far, so good... (On the banzuke...) Glad to see someone pressure the slackers closer to the top.
Kintamayama Posted September 21, 2011 Author Posted September 21, 2011 Day 11 up-sadly, I missed the first bout - Daidou - Takanoyama..

Doitsuyama Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Re: Halftime ShowAsashoryu had such an incredible mobility. Didn't help on that day. Incidentally, that was my first day in the Kokugikan.
Kofuji Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 A big WOW for Kyokutenho's tawara footwork in his bout with Goeido. Absolutely amazing escape.

Tikozan Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 (Clapping wildly...) Thanks to Kintamayama for his work all days. So I could see the bouts that I've miss, while I was working.
Kotomikey Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Thanks Kintamayama for all the hard work. I would miss the bouts otherwise.
Pocari Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Arigatou gozaimashita Kintamayama-san! (Clapping wildly...)
Borislav Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 Thank you once more for covering the basho! The senshuraku was amazing.
Treblemaker Posted September 25, 2011 Posted September 25, 2011 I would like to add my thanks. These videos were fun to watch, and I know they were enjoyed by all. Just as a last comment - is it me or was there an unusually greater amount of tsuppari and far more limited mawashi-grabbing in this basho? It seemed that almost every bout featured waving arms and only when that failed, did the clutch-and-grab take over. This basho had to be one of the more entertaining sessions in some time. And showed some promise for future. I find myself looking forward to the next basho even more than the last time.
Shiroiyama Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Thanks!!!!!!! (Laughing...) (Showing respect...)
Kuroyama Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 (edited) Thanks from me too, especially for the last day. My Internet connection decided to get all funny just before Baruto/Kotoshogiku, and I couldn''t see anything until the bow came out. Edited September 26, 2011 by Kuroyama
Vikanohara Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Since I was on holiday during the Aki basho, I'm still watching it almost one week after, thanks to Kintamayama. (Sign of approval...) And I'm thinking it would be interesting to have a daily vote on the best two Makuuchi bouts of the day, so we could make a nice overview of the best 30.
