I'd really like to know what prompted Jakusotsu to pre-pick Giku when the Osh withdrawal wasn't known yet...that must've been an interesting scenario he'd drawn up.

In any case, Day 9 Kotoshogiku for me, too.

I guess he was predicting an Osh kyujo (because otherwise Giku vs Kise should have been nailed on (lightly, at least) for day 15).....

I am slightly bemused by the Kotoshogiku day 9 bandwagon. I can only assume that other players have been analysing the Ozeki and Yokozuna options more than I did.... In which case I will regret making my choice of a mere M4....

With 4 Ozekis fighting the Yokozuna on day 12-15 then days 10-11 are traditionally for the Yokozuna to fight the sekiwakes or in this case 9-11 since there are 3 sekiwakes. Thus it has been traditional for the sekiwakes to meet on day 9.

Last basho with 4 Ozeki (at least starting out) they followed this pattern but since there were 3 sekiwakes it takes 3 days for the sekiwake matchups so they started on day 7 in Nagoya and again this time even though we only had 3 Ozeki starting out.

It appears they are following that same strategy since Kise and Kaku fought on day 7 and Giku and Kaku are fighting tonight so logically Giku and Kise should fight on day 9. It also makes sense in that if they held the Kise and Giku off for day 15 at least one of them would probably have a loss to the Yokozuna, maybe both. Also one or both of them might lose to Bart making it a bit anti-climactic. This way the odds are good that Kise will defeat Miflobbyama and reasonably acceptable that Giku will win against Kakuryu thus assuring a clash of undefeated sekiwakes for day 9.

So my picks for Day 9: Kotoshogiku.

I forget, does GKA have automatic kosho? XiaoTan would need to be adjusted if so.

Yes, there is a one basho automatic kosho - but there is still time for XiaoTan to enter this basho...

Since they moved my Day 10 up to Day 9, I'll have to go with moving my Day 11 up to Day 10 ...

Day 10 ... Hakuho

and still time to get a better record than me if he does... (Whatever above, it is funny...)

Well thanks to the Koto-mates the fecal matter has hit the virtual ventilator system. FIrst Osh goes Kyujo then Giku loses to the struggling Mongolian sekiwake. Day 10 would traditionally be the day for the Yokozuna (when only 1 is around) to meet the West Sekiwake but since we, currently at least only have 2 Ozekis then maybe the Sekiwake vs Yokozuna matchups will move back to Days 12-13 instead or maybe they'll just toss all the names in a hat and draw! I don't see any drama in holding Kise v Harry back for Day 15 like last tournament so I'll go with:

Day 10: Harumafuji
