Yaochoyama Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Decided not to take the easy way out today. The most logical pairings for the top 7 rankers seems to favor Kise facing: Day 7 - Tochiozan
Jejima Posted September 16, 2011 Author Posted September 16, 2011 I can't believe I didn't make my pick on time - I usually do it before heading off for work... I was going to stick with Kakuryu ;-) Oh well, I guess I missed the boat.
Jakusotsu Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Dang - I had Kakuryu penciled against an Ozeki on day 7! Need to scry two days ahead: Day 8 - Baruto Day 9 - Kotoshogiku (unless they met on day 8, then Baruto, please)
Profomisakari Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 I go with Kofuji: Day 8 Tochiozan Profomisakari
Asashosakari Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Tricky...stab in the dark: Day 8 Tokitenku
Yaochoyama Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Shimo - where were you yesterday? I was afraid Tochiozan would be aite without you. Tricky...stab in the dark:Day 8 Tokitenku Actually a plausible choice. It's an interesting day with a number of possibilities in play. Let's try: Day 8 - Tochinoshin
Yaochoyama Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Let's get caught up with the standings before we lose the thread of what's going on. On Day 6 their were 8 picks for Homasho (correct) with one each for Kotooshu, Kotoshogiku, Kakuryu and Tochiozan. Yaochoyama (Y1E 4-2) Y1 Asashosakari (O1E 4-2) O1 Profomisakari (O1W 3-3) Gernobono (S1E Kosho) S1 Oshirokita (S1W 4-2) S2 Chisaiyama (S2W 1-3-2) Kuroimori (K1E 2-3-1) K1 XiaoTan (K1W 0-0-6) Andonishiki (K2E Kosho) K2 Kofuji (M1E 3-2-1) M1 Holleshoryu (M1W 4-2) Jakusotsu (M2E 5-1) M2 Hidariashiyama (M2W 0-0-6) Kotoviki (M3E 2-1-3) M3 Jejima (M3W 3-3) Anjoboshi (M4E Kosho) M4 Maguroyama (M4W 0-0-6) Shimodahito (M5E 0-6) M5 Kameumi (M5W 0-0-6) Kisenosato's aites: 1. Yaochoyama Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 On Day 7 we had 8 picks for Tochiozan and one each for Kotooshu and Kakuryu. Only Oshirokita had the correct pick of Kakuryu, and he joins Jakusotsu as co-leader. Yaochoyama (Y1E 4-3) Y1 Asashosakari (O1E 4-3) O1 Profomisakari (O1W 3-4) Gernobono (S1E Kosho) S1 Oshirokita (S1W 5-2) S2 Chisaiyama (S2W 1-4-2) Kuroimori (K1E 2-4-1) K1 XiaoTan (K1W 0-0-7) Andonishiki (K2E Kosho) K2 Kofuji (M1E 3-3-1) M1 Holleshoryu (M1W 4-3) Jakusotsu (M2E 5-2) M2 Hidariashiyama (M2W 0-0-7) Kotoviki (M3E 2-2-3) M3 Jejima (M3W 3-3-1) Anjoboshi (M4E Kosho) M4 Maguroyama (M4W 0-0-7) Shimodahito (M5E 0-6-1) M5 Kameumi (M5W 0-0-7) Kisenosato's aites: 1. Yaochoyama Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 I probably won't be able to do the standings over the weekend - certainly not for Day 8. So perhaps someone could try to post at least for that day.
Jejima Posted September 17, 2011 Author Posted September 17, 2011 Day 8 - a very wild stab with Kotooshu (just in case he is going to go kyujo soon....)
Asashosakari Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 (edited) Since I'm awake anyway and it's an easily calculated whitewash, here's the Day 8 standings: Day 8 - a very wild stab with Kotooshu (just in case he is going to go kyujo soon....) Excellent! :-) Sadly, no points for the part of that statement that turned out to be correct... Osh's rather early withdrawal throws the torikumi into disarray, sending Miyabiyama into Kisenosato's way for nakabi. Picks made: 1 Baruto 2 Kotooshu 7 Tochiozan 1 Tochinoshin 1 Tokitenku Oshirokita and Jakusotsu stay in front. This is shaping up to be a rather difficult game for a Kise-at-sekiwake basho... Yaochoyama (Y1E 4-4) Y1 Asashosakari (O1E 4-4) O1 Profomisakari (O1W 3-5) Gernobono (S1E Kosho) S1 Oshirokita (S1W 5-3) S2 Chisaiyama (S2W 1-5-2) Kuroimori (K1E 2-5-1) K1 XiaoTan (K1W 0-0-8) Andonishiki (K2E Kosho) K2 Kofuji (M1E 3-4-1) M1 Holleshoryu (M1W 4-4) Jakusotsu (M2E 5-3) M2 Hidariashiyama (M2W 0-0-8) Kotoviki (M3E 2-3-3) M3 Jejima (M3W 3-4-1) Anjoboshi (M4E Kosho) M4 Maguroyama (M4W 0-0-8) Shimodahito (M5E 0-7-1) M5 Kameumi (M5W 0-0-8) Kisenosato's aites: 1. M2W Yoshikaze, 2. M3E Takekaze, 3. K1E Toyonoshima, 4. K1W Aran, 5. M1W Okinoumi, 6. M1E Homasho, 7. S2E Kakuryu, 8. M5E Miyabiyama (Jakusotsu's default Day 9 pick: Kotoshogiku) Edited September 17, 2011 by Asashosakari
Oshirokita Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 I will keep pace with Jakusotsu, as my non-default pick is: Day 9 Kotoshogiku
Kotoviki Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 I think Kotoshogiku too for day 9. It is actually a day that looks almost sold out for tickets and they are both unbeaten now so... good pick!! Speaking of tickets, while I was outside with Onomatsu oyakata during the Yokozuna dohyoiri I realized there was still a long line of people buy tickets at the window even though it was a Saturday.. and they had still had same day tickets at 11am (that I know of as someone bought one that I knew..) Sales suck!
Kofuji Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 Not sure what to do here ... I had 'oshu pencilled in for Day 15 ... do I shove everyone down one? I'll run with Day 9 - Tochiozan ... I think they'll save the sekiwake showdown for the last day now.
Jejima Posted September 17, 2011 Author Posted September 17, 2011 (edited) I think it will be either Tochinoshin or Tokitenku.... I'll take Tokitenku (Sign of approval...) edit: This is my day 9 pick, of course Edited September 17, 2011 by Jejima
Profomisakari Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 I too find no better pick for day 9 as Kotoshogiku Profomisakari
