Anjoboshi Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 I'll winner-join with the obvious pick Harumafuji!
Chisaiyama Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 And what do you think aboutday 14 Takekaze? Profomisakari Well, I had that heya in mind but my thought was: Day 14: Yoshikaze Ahem... I know the torikumi gang is downright crazy, but I really doubt they would order to repeat the nakabi matchup Frack! (Applauding...) Well, sometimes you just have to be crazy to play this game. Shame on me and on to: Day 15: Harumafuji
Yaochoyama Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Updating the standings through Day 14: Day 14 picks: Okinoumi 11 (correct), Takekaze 1, Harumafuji 1, Yoshikaze 1 Yaochoyama (7-6-1) Y1 Profomisakari (4-10) O1 Asashosakari (5-9) Jakusotsu (3-11) S1 Gernobono (4-7-3) Oshirokita (5-9) K1 Chisaiyama (4-10) Kofuji (kosho) M1 Holleshoryu (kosho) Andonishiki (4-10) M2 Kotoviki (2-10-2) Jejima (2-12) M3 XiaoTan (5-9) Hidariashiyama (3-9-2) M4 Kuroimori (7-7) Maguroyama (kosho) M5 Shimodahito (kosho) Kameumi (kosho) M6 Anjoboshi (2-10-2) Day 1: M3E Wakakoyu, Day 2: M2E Kyokutenho, Day 3: KE Goeido, Day 4: KW Tochinoshin, Day 5: S1E Kotoshogiku, Day 6: O2E Kaio, Day 7: S2W Kakuryu, Day 8: M1W Yoshikaze, Day 9: O1E Baruto, Day 10: YE Hakuho, Day 11: M2W Toyonoshima, Day 12: O2W Kotooshu, Day 13: M3W Aminishiki, Day 14: M4E Okinoumi
Yaochoyama Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 While we wait for the final results, the near unanimous endorsement of Harumafuji for Day 15 aite lets us get to the special prizes: Special Prize Winners for Nagoya 2011 First comes the shukun-sho or outstanding performance prize for the one who correctly picks the aite the most consecutive days. Asashosakari got off to unpleasant 1-8 start in his ozeki debut, but came on strong at the end with 4 victories (assuming Harumafuji gets the nod for Day 15), enough to take the prize. It's his second straight time to win the shukun-sho. The kanto-sho or fighting spirit prize is given to the one who limits their worse streak of incorrect aite picks to the shortest number of consecutive days. This prize is shared by Kuroimori and Yaochoyama, both of whom were able to limit their consecutive losses to three. Finally there is the gino-sho or technique prize which works with a point system: 3 points if you're the only one to make the correct pick 2 points if you're one of two to make the correct pick 1 point if you're one of three to make the correct pick The winner (for the second consecutive basho) is Chisaiyama. Chisai got off to a great start, picking up 3 points for the sole pick of Kyokutenho on Day 2, and adding 3 more with Kotoshogiku on Day 5, correctly anticipating the early sekiwake showdown. Those 6 points proved more than enough to take the prize. To recap: Shukun-sho
Gernobono Posted July 23, 2011 Posted July 23, 2011 the torikumi is not out yet...so maybe my day 15 harumafuji still counts....if not.....not
Jejima Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 (edited) Hi all! Many thanks for the daily gyojis. On the final day, everyone picked Harry, for the clean sweep. When the dust settles, we have two players tied on 8 wins, so we'll have to check the tie-breaker rules to see who will be declared the overall winner... Well, the first tie-break is to go backwards from day 15, to see who was the last one to predict a winner, when the other didn't. Amazingly (the first time since this game started!), they both picked correctly on the same days.... So, the next tie-breaker says that the highest ranked on the banzuke can claim the yusho.... So congratulations to Yokozuna Yaochoyama on yet another yusho! Kuroimori will have to settle for the Jun-Yusho. Yaochoyama (8-6-1 (First prize...) ) Y1 Profomisakari (5-10) O1 Asashosakari (6-9) Jakusotsu (4-11) S1 Gernobono (5-7-3) Oshirokita (6-9) K1 Chisaiyama (5-10) Kofuji (Kosho) M1 Holleshoryu (Kosho) Andonishiki (5-10) M2 Kotoviki (3-10-2) Jejima (3-12) M3 XiaoTan (6-9) Hidariashiyama (4-9-2) M4 Kuroimori (8-7 (First prize...) ) Maguroyama (Kosho) M5 Shimodahito (Kosho) Kameumi (Kosho) M6 Anjoboshi (Kosho) KK = 5-10 OQ = 7-8 Special Prizes (as previously announced by Yaochoyama) Shukun-sho Edited July 28, 2011 by Jejima

Asashosakari Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 (edited) Comments: Hopefully we'll see some (if not all) the banzuke-gai rikishi returning to the game in September (First prize...) What happened to This is a bit of a special basho, so if regular players choose not to play this time around, they will be granted a 'freebie' Kosho. However, apart from that, it will be considered official. ? All these players were active in January. There's a reason I left them marked as kosho when I cleaned up the results table mid-basho...
