Mark Buckton Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 (Dripping sweat...) Crap TV show tonight in Japan (and therefore highly popular!) that pitted several muscle bound chaps against each other on a dohyo. I sully my own self respect watching this but did it for YOU ALL, oh the sacrifice (still, at least no SMAP or MOMUSU (?) members were involved). Sumo rules (ish) but with the dohyo an octagon not round. Four posts (padded) added a twist in that you could push back off them. Sapp won of course - rest there to make up the numbers - and picked up 3 million yen - at 35k per (real) kesho that's quite a lot in the real world. Akebono commentated and ANR was just glad to have seen the last 3 bouts. Got to say Akebono seems much happier now he's out of the Kyokai though. Relaxed, smiles, interviews, commercials etc.
Takanobaka Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 Darn....I would have loved to hear that the bug-eyed weirdo from Smap got the crap kicked out of him by Bob Sapp (or anyone else for that matter...)
Jesinofuji Posted April 20, 2004 Posted April 20, 2004 (Eek...) I have to say I really do like Bob Sapp. He is a great comedian, and a great entertainer. The way he talks mean to dolls and eats their heads off, and then gets in a dress and acts confused. He is a talented actor. I think he'll get movie rolls. (Dripping sweat...)
Ryunokaze Posted April 23, 2004 Posted April 23, 2004 I wish Andy Hug was still about and in good form.Arte's could could have taken him at one stage. All that muscle mass. You think anybody who gets past the initial onslaught should have a good chance.I don't know? On thing is for sure. You cant keep Sapp down right now.He was even asking for Akebono to take him on, Battle-Sumo style, after the show.Would be good for a laugh.I think 'bono has bigger fish to fry, right now.Shouldn't be to far off ,though.Wasn't a bad pay-cheque, for on nights work.
