JAB Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Hey all. I was wondering if I could get some help... I have a friend visiting Japan in the next week or so, and I wanted to see if she could find the extremely detailed figurines of professional Rikishi. I have no clue what they are called, nor where to even send her!? Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated! Are there Sumo "shops" or can these things only be found at Basho? I am not sure what cities she will visit. Sorry to be so vague. Thanks for the help! JAB
Washuyama Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 The souvenir shops at the KK are open in-between basho as well; located in the chaya area. The most expensive ones (Hakuho and Asashoryu if there are any of his left) are approx Y9500. The others are slightly cheaper (between Y5000 and Y8000 IIRC). I was unable to find the detailed ones anywhere else, only the generic "sumo wrestler" figurines, which BTW are less than Y2500 most places that I found them.
JAB Posted September 15, 2010 Author Posted September 15, 2010 Thank you so much! What is the KK though? Thanks Jake
