Yaochoyama Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Special Prize Winners for Aki 2010 First comes the shukun-sho or outstanding performance prize for the one who correctly picks the aite the most consecutive days. Getting off to a slow start, Maguroyama maintained a low profile this basho, yet he turned it on at the end and won the last 6 days (Day 10-15) to earn his kachi koshi, a share of the jun-yusho plus the shukun-sho outright. The kanto-sho or fighting spirit prize is given to the one who limits their worse streak of incorrect aite picks to the shortest number of consecutive days. This prize is shared prize between Asashosakari and Jejima, as each was able to limit his losing streaks to a mere two bouts, tying the all-time record shared by several others. For Asashosakari, it was the second straight basho he avoided a 3-bout or longer losing streak. Finally there is the gino-sho or technique prize which works with a point system: 3 points if you're the only win to make the correct pick 2 points if you're one of two to make the correct pick 1 point if you're one of three to make the correct pick A minimum of 3 points is required to win this, and 3 players just barely cleared the hurdle, thanks to their being the only three to pick Tochiozan on Day 5. The three are Kotoviki (who got her other 2 points from her Baruto pick on Day 2), Yaochoyama (adding the 2-point Kotoshogiku pick on Day 3) and Hidariashiyama (picking Kotooshu on Day 6). In summary: Shukun-sho
