Doitsuyama Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Fukao missed his chance for the important fifth win, losing with tsukihiza to Sadanoumi in a juryo visit. Ryuho on the other hand managed to beat Shironoryu and with 6-1 he could have a promotion chance even from Ms11w. Jumonji doesn't need to wait until the announcements are made as he is a shoo-in for a third juryo return now, winning the makushita yusho with a yoritaoshi against Gorikiyama. Takateru won against Satoyama and finished with a strong 6-1. Ryuonami and Kotokobai drew the short stick in the torikumi of the undefeated lower division rikishi as they got the cross-division match, knowing that a win just gives them a playoff appearance, and as expected Ryuonami won for his second 7-0 score in as many basho. Takatoshi and Akinokawa already knew that the winner will get the yusho outright, and Takatoshi came through with a kotenage win, coming back strong after his first career make-koshi last basho and introducing himself to makushita with a bang. His twin brother Takageppo also had his first career make-koshi last basho (also 2-5), and still has the chance to get into makushita if he wins his last bout. Ryuonami meanwhile won't have it easy in the jonidan yusho playoff as his opponent will be Tateno who won against Tanahashi. They didn't face in jonokuchi last basho as Tateno's sole loss came against Terutsuyoshi. Aratoshi sealed the jonokuchi yusho with a win over Wakanofuji who will have his 21st birthday tomorrow. The new Mongolian Kengo finished with a 6-1, beating Tamaseiryo today.
