Doitsuyama Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Hakuho and Baruto are rehashing the last basho, dominating the field and leading together, now at 6-0. Shimotori is still making the token maegashira participation up there, but Aran got his first loss today. The four incumbent ozeki are a rather shaky group with Kaio and Kotooshu losing and Harumafuji and Kotomitsuki not looking very solid in the wins. Daido is the sole juryo leader now as Kiyoseumi had a yorikiri loss to Toyozakura in a hard fought bout. Sakaizawa also looked strong in a win over Asofuji, so we might sometime see the two Nichidai grads back in makuuchi, but for now both are in the lower half of juryo. Gagamaru will likely be in makuuchi much sooner, like next basho, as the lead juryo stayed one win behind the lead with a good yorikiri win over Kotokasuga. Matsutani also is 5-1 and looking destined for makuuchi with the quality of his sumo. Kirinowaka is already 0-6 and needs a 7-2 for the rest to avoid demotion. Pippooshu Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Kakuryu has a very fast Tachi-Ai but Kotooshu is technically poor...he don't change his formulation during the bout. Never.
Bix Poku Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 The four incumbent ozeki are a rather shaky group with Kaio and Kotooshu losing and Harumafuji and Kotomitsuki not looking very solid in the wins. I would'nt even mention the word "solid" in connection with those wins. Ok, Kotomitsuki got henkaed by Homasho (what's wrong with THIS guy?) and survived but Harumafuji just pulled one of the ugliest sidejumps in return. Against Miyabiyama to whom he should be able run twice aroud the time Miya changes his direction. (Applauding...)
Barang Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 "Eesti poeg" Baruto has started very well after his Ozeki promotion. (In a state of confusion...) There is a big difference compared to Ama (Haramafuji)
