Doitsuyama Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 Asasekiryu continues to win, today he even beat the so far undefeated Ozeki Kaio. Asashoryu and Chiyotaikai also won to stay in the lead with Asasekiryu, and hold the number of undefeated rikishi at the maximum possible three now. Tomorrow Asasekiryu faces the other undefeated Ozeki, Chiyotaikai, forcing a further reduction on the number of leaders. Kaio has the chance to make good in the yusho race against Asashoryu. It is a possibility that Asasekiryu leads with one win after tomorrow, and he won't have to fight Asashoryu, except in a playoff... Two of the lower Sanyaku are make-koshi now with Kotomitsuki and Shimotori. The other two are in danger as well, both 5-7. Miyabiyama and, yes, Asasekiryu looks like they'll be Sanyaku next basho. Kyokutenho's chances also look good. Hakuho and Hayateumi are the Juryo leaders now after Kasugao lost again, now 1-4 in the last five days. Hayateumi again did his his "Air Hayate" impression with a jumping tachi-ai, the fourth already this basho and all four leading to very quick wins. He also had one last basho. Kyokushuzan is the only other one trying it but after losing the last two with this idea he should recognize that he's too slow for that. -- Doitsuyama Day 12 Juryo Ms2w Gokenzan (3-4) uwatenage J13w Masutsuyoshi (2-10) J12e Ama (7-5) oshidashi J13e Daimanazuru (5-7) J11w Dewanofuji (6-6) uwatenage J9w Juzan (3-9) J7e Gojoro (7-5) hatakikomi J12w Bushuyama (7-5) J7w Tamarikido (5-7) yoritaoshi J14e Wakakosho (4-8) J11e Tokitenku (7-5) kakenage J6e Kitazakura (7-5) J10w Sumanofuji (7-5) hikiotoshi J6w Kasugao (8-4) J10e Hamanishiki (6-6) yorikiri J3e Kobo (7-5) J3w Roho (5-7) okuridashi J14w Ichinotani (4-8) J8w Hakuho (9-3) oshidashi J2e Tamakasuga (7-5) J2w Hayateumi (9-3) hatakikomi J4w Kaido (7-5) J9e Takanotsuru (6-6) uwatenage J1e Oikari (5-7) J5e Takanowaka (8-4) uwatenage J1w Otsukasa (6-6) Makuuchi J4e Wakatoba (6-6) okuridashi M17e Yotsukasa (5-7) M15w Toyozakura (4-8) tsukidashi M15e Futeno (4-8) M12e Toki (7-5) sukuinage M14e Harunoyama (7-5) M11w Takekaze (7-5) oshidashi M16e Wakanoyama (1-11) M10e Kasuganishiki (4-8) tsukidashi M11e Asanowaka (4-8) M10w Kotoryu (7-5) yorikiri M16w Kaiho (7-5) M8e Takamisakari (7-5) hikiotoshi M9e Buyuzan (7-5) M14w Ushiomaru (7-5) yorikiri M8w Takanonami (4-8) M13e Kotonowaka (9-3) yorikiri M7e Tochisakae (6-6) M6w Jumonji (4-8) susoharai M13w Chiyotenzan (2-10) M5e Tokitsuumi (6-6) yorikiri M7w Kinkaiyama (3-9) M3e Tochinonada (6-6) yorikiri M9w Kokkai (7-5) M2w Kyokutenho (7-5) yorikiri M6e Hokutoriki (7-5) M1e Miyabiyama (8-4) oshidashi M3w Tamanoshima (5-7) M4w Tosanoumi (3-9) oshidashi M1w Kyokushuzan (2-10) K1e Kakizoe (5-7) tsukiotoshi M4e Aminishiki (2-10) M2e Dejima (6-6) yorikiri K1w Shimotori (4-8) O1e Chiyotaikai (12-0) tsukidashi S1w Kotomitsuki (4-8) M5w Iwakiyama (6-6) hatakikomi O2w Musoyama (8-4) M12w Asasekiryu (12-0) hikiotoshi O1w Kaio (11-1) Y1e Asashoryu (12-0) uwatedashinage S1e Wakanosato (5-7) Day 13 Makushita Ms15Td Takamifuji (5-1) Ms21e Kotokanyu (5-1) Ms13w Ryuho (3-3) Ms10w Chiyohakuho (3-3) Ms11e Raiko (3-3) Ms6w Kotoshogiku (3-3) Ms8e Kotokasuga (6-0) Ms1w Daishodai (3-3) Ms1e Hagiwara (5-1) Ms15e Nadatsukasa (5-1) Juryo J14w Ichinotani (4-8) J13w Masutsuyoshi (2-10) J13e Daimanazuru (5-7) Ms2e Kotooshu (6-0) J14e Wakakosho (4-8) J11w Dewanofuji (6-6) J11e Tokitenku (7-5) J8w Hakuho (9-3) J9w Juzan (3-9) J7w Tamarikido (5-7) J6e Kitazakura (7-5) J10e Hamanishiki (6-6) J5e Takanowaka (8-4) J12w Bushuyama (7-5) J4e Wakatoba (6-6) J12e Ama (7-5) J3e Kobo (7-5) J4w Kaido (7-5) J10w Sumanofuji (7-5) J2w Hayateumi (9-3) J2e Tamakasuga (7-5) J9e Takanotsuru (6-6) J6w Kasugao (8-4) J1w Otsukasa (6-6) J1e Oikari (5-7) J7e Gojoro (7-5) Makuuchi M14e Harunoyama (7-5) M16w Kaiho (7-5) J3w Roho (5-7) M13w Chiyotenzan (2-10) M11e Asanowaka (4-8) M11w Takekaze (7-5) M17e Yotsukasa (5-7) M10w Kotoryu (7-5) M10e Kasuganishiki (4-8) M16e Wakanoyama (1-11) M13e Kotonowaka (9-3) M9w Kokkai (7-5) M9e Buyuzan (7-5) M14w Ushiomaru (7-5) M8e Takamisakari (7-5) M15e Futeno (4-8) M15w Toyozakura (4-8) M7w Kinkaiyama (3-9) M8w Takanonami (4-8) M4w Tosanoumi (3-9) M12e Toki (7-5) M2w Kyokutenho (7-5) M2e Dejima (6-6) M3w Tamanoshima (5-7) M6w Jumonji (4-8) M1w Kyokushuzan (2-10) M1e Miyabiyama (8-4) M6e Hokutoriki (7-5) M3e Tochinonada (6-6) K1w Shimotori (4-8) K1e Kakizoe (5-7) M5w Iwakiyama (6-6) M4e Aminishiki (2-10) S1w Kotomitsuki (4-8) S1e Wakanosato (5-7) M5e Tokitsuumi (6-6) O1e Chiyotaikai (12-0) M12w Asasekiryu (12-0) M7e Tochisakae (6-6) O2w Musoyama (8-4) Y1e Asashoryu (12-0) O1w Kaio (11-1)
Naganoyama Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 Hayateumi again did his his "Air Hayate" impression with a jumping tachi-ai, the fourth already this basho and all four leading to very quick wins. He also had one last basho. Actually two. The first, which I have not seen, but which was reported in Le Monde du Sumo, was against Asasekiryu on Day 5 (the mizu-iri bout, the start of which was not available from banzuke.com) and the second against Yotsukasa on Day 6.
Doitsuyama Posted March 26, 2004 Author Posted March 26, 2004 Well, a mizu-iri bout does NOT sound like "jumping tachi-ai with a fast win". At least one component is missing badly here. (In a state of confusion...)
