Gernobono Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 day 15 toyonoshima to make the torikumi pattern look better
Chisaiyama Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 And I thought I would be the only one who thought it would be: Day 15: Aran
Jejima Posted May 22, 2010 Author Posted May 22, 2010 Late again.... On day 14, it is Hakuba! Just Kameumi got this correct. (Applauding...) Oshirokita Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 sorry to be so late today, but I will make the same pick as yesterday (so as to see whether my 50% chance on Day 14 was crazy or not). Day 15 Toyonoshima 100% (okay maybe 49%?)
Jejima Posted May 26, 2010 Author Posted May 26, 2010 (edited) On day 15, it was M4W Asasekiryu! Holleshoryu got this correct - and claims the yusho! (Sign of approval...) Hopefully Yaochoyama (or Asashosakari?) will announce the special prize winners in due course. Thanks for playing! Yaochoyama (Y1E Kosho) Y1 O1 Profomisakari (O1W 2-13) Holleshoryu (S1E 6-9 (I am not worthy...)) Jejima Posted May 26, 2010 Author Posted May 26, 2010 Yaochoyama (Y1E Kosho) Y1 O1 Profomisakari (O1W 2-13) Holleshoryu (S1E 6-9 ) S1 Jakusotsu (S1W 4-11) Jejima (S2E 3-12) S2 Maguroyama (S2W 3-12) Gernobono (S3E 3-12) S3 Oshirokita (K1W 5-10) XiaoTan (K2E 3-11-1) K1 Chisaiyama (K2W 3-11-1) shimodahito (M1W 5-10) K2 Hidariashiyama (M1E 4-11) Kameumi (M2E 4-10-1) K3 Kotoviki (K1E 2-13) M1 Kofuji (M2W 1-2-12) Sokkenaiyama (M3E 1-3-11) M2 This sanyaku is starting to get very silly.... Comments: Profomisakari will be kadoban in July. Holleshoryu can be promoted to Ozeki with an OQ record. Oshirokita can be promoted to Ozeki with a yusho or yusho equivalent record.
Asashosakari Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 (edited) Hopefully Yaochoyama (or Asashosakari?) will announce the special prize winners in due course. (Oops!) I knew I forgot something on Sunday! Here goes... Shukun-sho: Oshirokita takes the prize for outstanding performance by virtue of his 4-day winning streak from Day 10 to 13. Chisaiyama (Day 10 to 12) was the only other one to even manage more than back-to-back wins in this tough basho. Kanto-sho: The low scoring level strikes again, and the fighting spirit award is shared five ways with the lowest possible winning score, a maximum losing streak of four days: Hidariashiyama, yusho winner Holleshoryu, Jakusotsu, Kameumi and shimodahito are the lucky players. Gino-sho: Trailing the yusho winner for most of the basho, Kameumi struck last with his Hakuba pick on Day 14 that added another three points to his tally (and also qualified him for the kanto-sho at nearly the last minute), beating Holleshoryu 7 to 5 in technical excellence. Jakusotsu (3 points) was the only other player to reach the qualification threshold. Edited May 26, 2010 by Asashosakari
Kameumi Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 That was an intresting basho for sure! 4-10-1 and sanyaku promotion and Kanto-sho + Gino-sho! :D
Yaochoyama Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Thank you Asashosakari for doing the the special prizes. This sanyaku is starting to get very silly.... I know - scores can get bunched up, especially for a low-scoring basho like this, and you have 11 out of what was basically 13 players making KK. There probably needs to be a rule that says if the % of players with KK goes over a certain threshold, those who just make the KK cut-off score would be considered to have a 7.5-7.5 record instead of 8-7 and only hold their place on the banzuke instead of being promoted.
Asashosakari Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Or one could revisit my suggestion to ignore yasumi... Total record: 49-150-26 49 / 199 * 15 = 3.69 ---> KK line 4-11, 6 KK, 7 "real" MK and two almost entirely absent players who don't screw up the scoring distribution this way

To ignore the scores of all players who have more than 5 yasumis in one basho. Maybe for the next basho.
