Ryuusei, a new Chinese (one of three new foreigners in mae-zumo) from Nishonoseki-beya, won his first maezumo bout by tsukidashi today. He is 17 years old, 183 cm(approx. 6 ft.), and weighs 192 kilos(423 lbs.). Just to compare, at their debut, Konishiki was 175 kilos and Akebono 152. "When I met him last October in China, he was over 200, so he's slimmed down a bit", said Nishonoseki Oyakata.

Big people from China! First Yao, now this guy! I want to make him my adopted rikishi cause I'm going to China this year or next and want my adopted rikishi to be from China. Any idea on what province he's from?

if he gains more height in the next couple of years he would be really fearsome....

I'd say if he gains more skill, he'd be more fearful than if he gains more weight. Focus on technique and mind would be excellent.

I hope he makes it into the higher ranks, I want to see more giants up there.

As an aside, Yao Ming is not heavy for his height. In fact, he is quite mobile and athletic.

He looks pretty ungainly in this picture, but I suppose you need to see him in action to be able to tell.
