Chiyotaikai against Kotomitsuki should be interesting as well.
QttP Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 Chiyotaikai against Kotomitsuki should be interesting as well. Don't count on that. And, yes, I realize what huge risk I'm taking by saying this, considering their past hon-basho record and recent soken results, and I realize that I might turn out super-stupid after the bout, but I've said it nonetheless.

What is life like without a risk once in a while? :-)

QttP Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 (edited) Chiyotaikai against Kotomitsuki should be interesting as well. Don't count on that. And, yes, I realize what huge risk I'm taking by saying this, considering their past hon-basho record and recent soken results, and I realize that I might turn out super-stupid after the bout, but I've said it nonetheless. How can the bout not be interesting? ;-) Easily. Alternative 1: Chiyotaikai, especially after today's loss, comes out explosive and totally destroys Kotomitsuki, continuing his complete domination over him in hon-basho. That is the most likely alternative, although definitely not a safe bet. Alternative 2: Chiyotaikai, especially after today's loss, comes calm and focused, and carefully disposes of Kotomitsuki. That option is quite likely as well. Alternative 3: Chiyotaikai, especially after today's loss, comes frustrated and weak, Kotomitsuki takes advantage of Chiyotaikai's state and develops a good game plan which allows him to annihilate Chiyotaikai at tachiai and quickly toss him out (or pull him down), reminding us of their latest soken session. That's a bit less likely, but possible. Alternative 4: Chiyotaikai and Kotomitsuki put the past aside, the 2-win lead Asashoryu now makes it nearly impossible for someone to steal the yusho anyway, and so both men have a nice open bout with some interesting techniques and a dramatic outcome. That's the only alternative that will make the bout interesting, and as I see it, the least likely one. Edited January 21, 2004 by QttP
Kashunowaka Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 Now the bout will definitely be interesting. ;-)
Koriyama Posted January 21, 2004 Posted January 21, 2004 Yeah! I think, this is going to be The Bout I am going to wait for B-) . Are you working in commercials? You surely sold me that one.
