Asojima Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 Finally, thanks Asojima for the larger gaps between the selections! I can't remember when I last had three X-picks in that game, which is just much more fun if you actually have the option that a bout might not take place in reality and not only on paper... (Showing respect...) There is only one of these matches that is questionable in my mind's eye. I won't tell you if you picked it. ;-)

Asojima Posted March 11, 2010 Author Posted March 11, 2010 (edited) There are 24 entrants for Haru 10 with 504 picks ( 343 A's, 151 B's and 10 X's ). Welcome to new players Iginishiki and Achiyama. Profomisakari (2 B's) has the most picks in agreement with the other participants; Susanoo (5 X's) is the renegade for this basho. The most surprising spread is Harumafuji - Kotoshogiku. No one picked Shogi, but they are 6/6 over the last 2 years, and Shogi owned Ama before that. The killer pick is Gusoyama's sole selection of Shimotori over Tochiozan. Three exceptionally brilliant people picked Baruto to repeat his Hatsu win over Hakuho. My pick for the match least likely to occur is 8. Let's get it going!! Edited March 12, 2010 by Asojima

(Showing respect...) There is only one of these matches that is questionable in my mind's eye. I won't tell you if you picked it. :-P IMHO the chances that the matches won't happen are: 8: 60% 14: 75% 15: 50% Anyway, the main thing is simply that after quite some time there finally is ANY (pre-basho) chance that at least some of the matches won't happen! (Sign of approval...)

A match for which I would have predicted a 2-5% chance it won't happen pre-basho, but nice hit anyway! :-P
Asojima Posted March 12, 2010 Author Posted March 12, 2010 Adding an element of predictability for the non-matches introduces a touch of skill to this game. We can't have that, can we? (Sign of approval...)
Asashosakari Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Adding an element of predictability for the non-matches introduces a touch of skill to this game. We can't have that, can we? (No, no, no...) Well, ideally all selected matches should have a non-happening probability of about 33%. ;-)
Harry Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 (edited) You mean my all A's pick didn't involve any skill? (No, no, no...) Hmm, I notice that Jejima did the same but I have the time tiebreaker I think... Edited March 12, 2010 by Harry

Asojima Posted March 15, 2010 Author Posted March 15, 2010 We are two days in, and we have had only two matches. There is a 12/12 split between those with 2 wins (both A's) and those with one win. Only one match tomorrow to help thin the herd.
Jejima Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 You mean my all A's pick didn't involve any skill? :-DHmm, I notice that Jejima did the same but I have the time tiebreaker I think... Since this game has started I have never picked anything except As (you can check the records of previous bashos if you like). I imagined that you were merely following my genius ;-) Yes, you do have the time tie-breaker, but as all players of this game know, an 'All As' yusho would truly be mine! (Sigh...)
Asojima Posted March 16, 2010 Author Posted March 16, 2010 (edited) After 3 days and 3 matches, Takanorappa Kotoviki and Terarno lead the pack with unblemished records. Six of us are still stuck at 1 win, and the 16 others have 2 correct. On day 4, we again have only one match. Edited March 17, 2010 by Asojima
Asojima Posted March 17, 2010 Author Posted March 17, 2010 (edited) After Day 4, Kotoviki (corrected) and Terarno lead the pack with 4 wins and no losses. Ryafuji is the sole holder of only one win. Again, we have only one match for Day 5. Edited March 17, 2010 by Asojima

Since this game has started I have never picked anything except As (you can check the records of previous bashos if you like). I imagined that you were merely following my genius (Applauding...) Yes, you do have the time tie-breaker, but as all players of this game know, an 'All As' yusho would truly be mine! (Whatever above, it is funny...) I got a beginner's luck yusho my first time playing with "all", I thought it was all A's but perhaps it was all b's? I'll have to go back and check now. Sorry for being a copycat!
Asojima Posted March 18, 2010 Author Posted March 18, 2010 As Day 5 comes to a close, our sole leader is Kotoviki with a perfect 5. There are 9 in the wings with 4 correct waiting to capitalize on the 2 matches for Day 6. The tail end is being held up by 4 contestants with 2 wins each.
Asojima Posted March 19, 2010 Author Posted March 19, 2010 After Day 6 and 7 matches, we have a cluster of 6 leading with 6 wins. They have 9 breathing down their neck with 5 wins. Gusoyama is dragging the bumper with 3 wins. This is one of the closest games we have ever had. Day 7 brings us two more matches. If Goeido stays kyujo, match 4 will be a draw. There were 12 picks for Kaio and 12 for Goeido. For the first time in many bashos, no one picked an X for the Kaio match.
Profomisakari Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 Hi friends, I'm back from the tour and can publish the players listing. And what see my old eyes: Since today leads alone Profomisakari. Isn't it a nice table? Rk Player . . . . .Pts .1 Profomisakari. . 8 .2 Harry. . . . . . 7 .3 Jejima . . . . . 7 .4 Achiyama . . . . 7 .5 Kotoviki . . . . 7 .6 Holleshoryu. . . 7 .7 Peeter . . . . . 7 .8 Flohru . . . . . 7 .9 Asojima. . . . . 6 10 Mischashimaru. . 6 11 Shimodahito. . . 6 12 Takanorappa. . . 6 13 Susanoo. . . . . 6 14 Vikanohara . . . 6 15 Hidariashiyama . 6 16 Terarno. . . . . 6 17 Chisaiyama . . . 5 18 Iginishiki . . . 5 19 Wamahada . . . . 5 20 Ryafuji. . . . . 5 21 Kofuji . . . . . 5 22 Gusoyama . . . . 5 23 Fujisan. . . . . 5 24 Barang . . . . . 4 Tomorrow we have two bouts. The Haru - Shogi bout will not change the rankig, because nobody has picked Shogi. But if Homasho beats the small Takekaze, then will our "All A" rivalls Harry and Jejima have the same points as me, but both the better tiebreaker. Yes Jejima, you have the "all A2" pick as the first created. But this is a game and there is no rule for a patent for a special guess. And our tiebreak rule says: The first given pick gets the better place. So you always stay this basho one, two or three (only if Jim or Iginishiki have the same points) places behind Harry. But a good result is a good result as ever. Let's see how it goes tomorrow! A pity is it for Heikotoriki, not to come into the ranking. But we have a deadline and this did you pass, Heiko! Don't worry! Profomisakari

Harry Posted March 20, 2010 Posted March 20, 2010 (edited) If Goeido stays kyujo, match 4 will be a draw. There were 12 picks for Kaio and 12 for Goeido. For the first time in many bashos, no one picked an X for the Kaio match. For once no one thought KAIO would be kyujo. I doubt anyone expected Goeido would be injured though it is of course always possible. Edited March 20, 2010 by Harry

He was present and accounted for througout all of '09 going 8-7, conveniently every time! Edited March 20, 2010 by Chisaiyama

Profomisakari Posted March 21, 2010 Posted March 21, 2010 As first to remark: This seems to be absolutely new in our game: nobody picked the winner! At second I must discover: I no more can win the game this basho. For all open bouts I've the same all bouts A picked as Harry and Jezz . And I'm the last of the three. Best possible for me is the 3rd place. You will be before me, Jejima! But Harry leads and ever will be before us both. And there are Achiyama, Peeter and 7 players with each 7 points. They all can beat us. Rk Player . . . . .Pts .1 Harry. . . . . . 8 .2 Jejima . . . . . 8 .3 Profomisakari. . 8 .4 Achiyama . . . . 8 .5 Peeter . . . . . 8 .6 Shimodahito. . . 7 .7 Kotoviki . . . . 7 .8 Holleshoryu. . . 7 .9 Vikanohara . . . 7 10 Hidariashiyama . 7 11 Flohru . . . . . 7 12 Terarno. . . . . 7 13 Asojima. . . . . 6 14 Mischashimaru. . 6 15 Wamahada . . . . 6 16 Kofuji . . . . . 6 17 Takanorappa. . . 6 18 Gusoyama . . . . 6 19 Susanoo. . . . . 6 20 Fujisan. . . . . 6 21 Chisaiyama . . . 5 22 Iginishiki . . . 5 23 Ryafuji. . . . . 5 24 Barang . . . . . 4 Profomisakari
Profomisakari Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 (edited) We have no much news today. All five 8 point leaders have now 9 points, but from the seven yesterdays 7 point pursuers has only Kotoviki (my question: Do you no more love Tochinoshin, Viki?) picked the winner.So Harry as ever leads by tiebreaker. Rk Player . . . . .Pts .1 Harry. . . . . . 9 .2 Jejima . . . . . 9 .3 Profomisakari. . 9 .4 Achiyama . . . . 9 .5 Peeter . . . . . 9 .6 Kotoviki . . . . 8 .7 Shimodahito. . . 7 .8 Gusoyama . . . . 7 .9 Holleshoryu. . . 7 10 Vikanohara . . . 7 11 Hidariashiyama . 7 12 Flohru . . . . . 7 13 Terarno. . . . . 7 14 Chisaiyama . . . 6 15 Asojima. . . . . 6 16 Iginishiki . . . 6 17 Mischashimaru. . 6 18 Wamahada . . . . 6 19 Ryafuji. . . . . 6 20 Kofuji . . . . . 6 21 Takanorappa. . . 6 22 Susanoo. . . . . 6 23 Fujisan. . . . . 6 24 Barang . . . . . 5 Please let me correct this standings! Asojima emailed to me, that he had not seen the Kotomitsuki - Aminishiki bout on day 8, that won Aminishiki (B). And I was idle and didn't check Jims post. So we must correct our standing. Now we have 14 results of our 21 bouts (the 15th seems to be an X for bout 4, but we have to wait) and th standings are very differently to the here published table. Because the winner was "B", the "All A" pickers (included me) falled 1 point behind Achiyama and Peeter, who both now lead the table with 10 points before four pursueres with each 9 points. This is the now (I hope) correct players ranking table: Rk Player . . . . .Pts .1 Achiyama . . . . 10 .2 Peeter . . . . . 10 .3 Harry. . . . . . .9 .4 Jejima . . . . . .9 .5 Profomisakari. . .9 .6 Kotoviki . . . . .9 .7 Shimodahito. . . .8 .8 Asojima. . . . . .7 .9 Ryafuji. . . . . .7 10 Gusoyama . . . . .7 11 Holleshoryu. . . .7 12 Susanoo. . . . . .7 13 Vikanohara . . . .7 14 Hidariashiyama . .7 15 Flohru . . . . . .7 16 Terarno. . . . . .7 17 Chisaiyama . . . .6 18 Iginishiki . . . .6 19 Mischashimaru. . .6 20 Wamahada . . . . .6 21 Kofuji . . . . . .6 22 Takanorappa. . . .6 23 Fujisan. . . . . .6 24 Barang . . . . . .6 Ecxuse us all please.
