SumoTheBestFan Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 i'm wondering how sumo fighters make their asshole clean, if they've got such a big amount of fat. (In a state of confusion...) Otokonoyama Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I have it on good authority toilet paper has made it's way to Japan, and bathing is not uncommon.
Jakusotsu Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 ...and bathing is not uncommon. With most Japanese toilets, it's more like a shower.
kaiguma Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I'm surprised anyone has given so much airtime to a question which was obviously "tongue in cheek" from its first utterance... That's how you get YOURS clean, isn't it??? But seriously, just in case you're curable, Rikishi come in all shapes and sizes. Yes most of the upper division has a lot of fat on their bones, but also a lot of very very flexible muscle mass. Also that fat is concentrated in certain areas such as the thighs and gut, not so much on the buttocks. Take someone like Kotomitsuki or Tamanoshima for example, if you can find some of their videos (especially instant replays). At a glance you would probably call either of them a tub'o'lard, but in a replay you can clearly see that they have rippling muscular posteriors. Even the fat that they do have is classified as subcutaneous rather than the deep artery-clogging cholesterol fat of heart attacks. If you were talking about Yamamotoyama or Orora etc., maybe someone would laugh at your joke because those are some real unhealthy lardasses. But around here, if you show zero respect for sumo and Ozumo, you get no respect from us either. I don't even know why I am writing this...
ryafuji Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 I did hear that Konishiki needed help from his tsukebito in that department. Not saying it's true, just what I heard.
Jonosuke Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 (edited) Unlike most guys, almost all rikishi can do full leg split. Just because someone is big, it does not mean he is not flexible. It takes quite a bit of dedicated effort to do full leg split effortlessly but it only takes so little to do search and make an effort to learn some basic things about sumo. Treblemaker Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 No disrespect meant, but it's a viable question in terms of dealing with larger-than-normal athletes. A good look at the majority of these guys reveals long arms, and a level of flexibility that simply isn't there in the "normal" big, fat guy. For most of them, this is a moot point, but I'm sure there are some that would require some creative problem-solving in this regard. Still, where there's a will, there's a way. The Romans used short sticks with a wad of cloth on the end of them. These were located in the public powder rooms at the Baths, and the items in question were always kept wet in a trough with a constant flow of clean, running water. The real fact of the matter is that we all gotta go sometime, and hygene isn't always a common sense thing. Spend half an hour in any public rest room in any country, and count how many people actually stop to wash their hands after performing their ritual. My guess is that less than 30% do this. In some countries, it's almost never done. So, all offended and embarrased adolescent chuckling at the prim-and-proper Victorian-ness of it aside, it's a good, if somewhat poorly phrased, question.
Sokkenaiyama Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 There's always some guy who sees some good in everyone. Lex, there's a 99.x% chance this guy is a troll - and you just fed him. (In a state of confusion...)
