Onnagumo Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 :-P Oh nooooo..... Not another one gone...... Just read on the ML that Sentoryu has announced his intai. Goodbye Sentoryu...... :-P
Jesinofuji Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 This, already before hearing this sad sad sad news, has been on record the worst basho ever, and just when you think it can't get any worse, you hear something like this. :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( :'-( I really am going to cry! Thank you Sentoryu for a great career, and Ganbatte in your next endeavor!
Zuikakuyama Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 Kaio must have tried mightily hard to get that last win for the sake of Sentoryu. Kaio is a real class act, and an all-around good guy.
Kotoseiya Yuichi Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 (...) the worst basho ever (In a state of confusion...) (In a state of confusion...) (In a state of confusion...)
Mikiro Posted November 23, 2003 Posted November 23, 2003 Alas Sentoryu, a gentleman who never failed to give anything but 100%. His retirement coupled with that of Musashimaru certainly leaves a dearth of United States competitors.
Mark Buckton Posted November 24, 2003 Posted November 24, 2003 As Mikiro-san said above - the recent departures for pastures new doesn't help the US contingent much but perhaps both were for the better. On Maru - Japanese media gives the impression he's leaving as soon as he can and is off back to Hawaii. Not much on Sentoryu but having seen a few of his bouts this basho I think he's done the right thing - looked tire, bored even as did Maru. Still, life goes on. ANR
