Doitsuyama Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Sekiwake Baruto lost with a spectacular utchari to komusubi Goeido to leave the two yokozuna as the sole undefeated sanyaku rikishi after only three days. The number of undefeated maegashira rikishi cut in half from six to three as only Kimurayama, Yamamotoyama and Kokkai won today. The five ozeki continue their mediocre performance with Kotomitsuki and Chiyotaikai losing badly to Tochiozan and the ozeki are left at a combined 8-7. Shin-makuuchi Shotenro still is waiting for his first win as Shimotori looked strong in their bout. In juryo half of the early leaders lost again, leaving only three undefeated rikishi with Mokonami, Kitataiki and Wakakoyu. Kitazakura was scheduled as guest from makushita and he beat Wakatenro in his attempt to climb back to juryo. Shin-juryo Okinoumi got immediately promoted to the upper half of juryo with the yusho from the lead makushita rank, and he's 1-2 so far with the loss to Mokonami today. 30 years old Kotokuni is the only other juryo rikishi at a new high rank, he beat winless Hoshihikari today for his second win.
