Doitsuyama Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Hakuho and Asashoryu had no troubles to stay in the lead while no ozeki is undefeated anymore as Kotooshu and Chiyotaikai lost to sanyaku Aminishiki and Kisenosato. Sekiwake Baruto kept the pace though with a patient win over Toyonoshima, and Tochiozan still is the sole undefeated maegashira, beating Tosanoumi. Harumafuji finally got the first win, soundly beating winless Kotoshogiku, and catching up with Kotomitsuki who also is 1-4 with a loss to Wakanosato. No leader lost in juryo today as Hakuba and Hoshihikari stayed without a loss. The number of pursuers dropped sharply though from seven to two as only Shotenro and Mokonami won, leaving all Japanese rikishi at 3-2 or worse. Barang Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Kotomitsuki - Baruto match will be interesting tomorrow. So far Kotomitsuki has had upperhand in last year, but this time Baruto has change to win . Ama( hopefully his look a like has gone back to Mongolia) needs also his second win for avoiding total disaster basho.
Beisaikyou Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I missed actually watching the matches today because of work, but I'm psyched about Baruto's record so far and happy that Harumafuji finally managed a win... a little bummed about Taikai and Kotooshu, but at least they're still strong; can't say the same about poor Kotoshogiku. :( Can't wait to curl up in front of the TV tomorrow night.
Bilu Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Time for a new poll: Will Baruto make it to Ozeki in 2009? I vote YES.
HenryK Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 J3w Tosayutaka (3-2) nichonage J6w Shirononami (1-4) Nice technique. Looked more for like judo than sumo. I feel Tosayakuta will soon join his peers Aran and Yamamotoyama in Makuuchi.
Musashoryu Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Good to see Goeido is doing well.....I would love to see him get promoted this year....
