tominishiki Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 (edited) I have a question for Kotoseiya how I can put a picture in a messege? Edited November 6, 2003 by tominishiki
Kashunowaka Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 (edited) I am not Kotoseiya, but I'll answer anyway. :-P Write [ IMG]http://url.to.image[ /IMG] without spaces between "[" and "IMG". You need the URL to an image to put between the IMG tags. A convenient way of doing this is to click the "IMG" button above the text field used for composing messages, and entering (or pasting) the URL to the image in the dialogue box that opens. Try it out in the test forum until you get it right! You can always ask for more help if it doesn't work. Edited November 6, 2003 by Kashunowaka
Kotoseiya Yuichi Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 (edited) First either memorize or copy the address of the picture you want to display. Then click on the IMG button when you are on the reply page. Write or paste the image's address into the text box on that small window that appears. Your post now has a line which looks like this: [ IMG ]http://www.yourdomain.com/path-to-image/image.jpg[ /IMG ] There are no spaces around IMG tags, though. I just need to add them to prevent this line to be rendered as an image (which does not exist as the address is purely fictional). Your image must reside on a web server (perhaps FTP etc. servers will do as well). This means you can't show an image from your computer's local hard drive (unless your computer is a web server by itself). If you don't know how to upload an image to a web server, email it to me as an attachment (you need to use a dedicated email application as the forum's email function doesn't support attachments) and I will upload it to sumoforum.net and reply to you with the image's address. EDIT: I'm slow but then again my excuse is that I'm watching icehockey. Edited November 6, 2003 by Kotoseiya Yuichi
Exil Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 (edited) And to get the address (URL) of the image, when using Internet Explorer, right click the image and select "Properties". Now highlight the address, hit CTRL-C and click OK. Then press CTRL-P to paste it between the tags like so http://www.myurl.con/image1.jpg[/IMG]. With Netscape, right click and select "Copy image location". Then use CTRL-P to paste it anywhere you like. (Shaking head...) Edit: The IMG button on the reply form is just for amateurs. :-P Edit2: Forget clicking, httpget the HTML source and grep the address... (Oops! ) Edited November 6, 2003 by Exil
Kotoseiya Yuichi Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 Edit: The IMG button on the reply form is just for amateurs. (Shaking head...) And for whom is left clicking then? :-P
Exil Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 (edited) And for whom is left clicking then? :-P Ouch. Right click, that is. (Shaking head...) But then, you never know what might happen if you left click hard enough. (Broken heart...) Edit: You should've waited until the post was uneditable. Edited November 6, 2003 by Exil

Kotoseiya Yuichi Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 Edit: You should've waited until the post was uneditable. Meanwhile you would've noticed it by yourself and I can't afford to lose such a chance to play a besserwisser. :-P
Exil Posted November 6, 2003 Posted November 6, 2003 If you use Ctrl+P to paste, you are bound to get a surprise. :-P So I should stop posting while drunk? :-/ OK, everyone, ignore the above, it just doesn't work. (Sign of disapproval) But I get two points for trying, right? Meanwhile you would've noticed it by yourself and I can't afford to lose such a chance to play a besserwisser. ;-) By now it's painfully obvious that I don't read my posts. B-)
