Nono - I'll try something different - Goeido on day 13. Neko

I think Goeido'll get Tamanoshima on day 13 (Neener, neener...)

You're right - I actually meant Kokkai (Being ninja...) Neko

now that I am half convinced Kisenosato won't face Mickey at all this basho, I leap off guessing him every day to choose:

Day 13 Kokkai

Hmm... I wonder if it would be too time-consuming to actually play a full Guess the Torikumi game... Just like playing Guess the Banzuke, only on a daily basis. (Neener, neener...)

I really like the idea, but I fear to play it properly (for the whole division), it would be far too time consuming. It took me at least 10 minutes today (looking at all the viable options) to make my selection for just one bout - okay this is much longer than I usually take - but to do it for the whole torikumi? I think it might be too much!

Well, the time taken to play a full guess the torikumi isn't linearly dependent on the actual number of rikishi you guess it for. First of all, if you guess the aite for one of them, you automatically guess the aite's aite, so that about halves it, and secondly the jo'i (Yokozunas in particular) have a more or less fixed schedule, that usually creates some constraints about the possible bouts. Last (for now) but not least, there's the good habit of pairing rikishi with similar records as the basho progresses, and there are also the same heya rules, particularly useful in the current setting for the Sakaigawa, Musashigawa, Sadogatake and Kasugano beyas.

True, even so, it would be very complicated and likely time consuming, but you could further reduce the matters to only the jo'i (first 16 rikishi, those that are usually in the Yokozunas' range), and, voila, you could have a new, popular game. All we need now is a popularity study and a comfy interface (that last aspect shouldn't be too hard, with all the daily games already in place). What say you?

I think it would be fun to guess the full torikumi sometime, but to do it every day for 15 days in a row, or even to guess the top 16 - that seems like it would be a bit of a burnout.

Perhaps it might be nice to develop some special prizes for this game - a Fighting Spirit prize for the best record by a non-yusho winner the second week of the basho would be a possibility. Maybe we can come up with more ideas between bashos.

Kotomitsuki confounded a lot of us by going Kyujo LATE! :-) Indeed a badwangon. Congratulations to those who correctly predicted M4W Kokkai. (I am not worthy...)

Yaochoyama continues to lead - and has already got in an early pick (Sign of approval...) - so we can counter him, if we want to (or follow his expert guidance?)

Sokkenaiyama (S1E 3-9-1) S Jejima (S1W 5-8)

Maguroyama (K1E 3-10) K Harry (K1W 0-5-8)

XiaoTan (M1E 5-8) M1 Yaochoyama (M2W 6-7)

Holleshoryu (M2E 5-8) M2

Mae-zumo

ilovetochinoshin (mz 3-6-4)

Chisaiyama (mz 3-8-2)

Profomisakari (mz 2-9-2)

Oshirokita (mz 3-8-2)

Kisenosato's opponents:-

Day 1. Y1W Asashoryu 2. O2E Kotooshu 3. S1E Baruto 4. O3E Harumafuji 5. O1W Chiyotaikai 6. O2W Kaio 7. M1E Kotoshogiku 8. Y1E Hakuho 9. M2E Miyabiflobmonster 10. M3E Takekaze 11. M1W Kyokutenho 12. M2W Yoshikaze 13. M4W Kokkai

Edit: Done correctly (thank you Neko)

I think the scores have not been updated. I'll say Futeno for Day 14 and Goeido for day 15 Neko.

Thanks for pointing out my selection error yesterday - I thought Kisenosato and Wakanosato are in teh same heya??

I did the same three basho's back - that's why I remember. (Sign of approval...)

My first thought was Wakanosato but at 4-8 is a bit far removed from Kise's 6-6, then I figured Futeno, but then I figured that Kise is going to beat Kokkai and Takamisakari is going to beat Wakanosato so that will leave them both at 7-6 so voila':

Day 14 Takamisakari that's my final answer Regis...er Jejima

Some of just tried to outthink the torikumi makers, but others went along with the torikumi-makers and handed Kise the next available rikishi in the banzuke, namely M3W Goeido.

Yaochoyama can still save his KK! But he has already secured the yusho! (Yusho winner...)

This is back-to-back yushos! (Nodding yes...) (Applauding...) :-P (Band playing...) (Showing respect...)

He is still invited to enter as early as possible, going into the final day, by virtue of being the leader winner.

Sokkenaiyama (S1E 3-9-2) S Jejima (S1W 5-9)

Maguroyama (K1E 3-11) K Harry (K1W 0-5-9)

Day 15: Takamisakari

Note: Changed from Wakanosato, cause I never noticed over the eons that they were both in Naruto Beya, tkx Jejima!

Day 15: Wakanosato

Quick! Change your pick! As Neko pointed out earlier in this thread (when I nearly made the same mistake for yesterday's pick), Wakanosato is in the same heya (Naruto-beya) as Kisenosato, and so are **highly** unlikely to meet tomorrow, unless there is a drastic rule change between now and then!
