Otokonoyama Posted December 16, 2008 Posted December 16, 2008 For anyone interested in how the media operates in Japan, this 20 minute NPR report is very interesting... http://www.onthemedia.org/transcripts/2008/12/12/06
Shomishuu Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 For anyone interested in how the media operates in Japan, this 20 minute NPR report is very interesting...http://www.onthemedia.org/transcripts/2008/12/12/06 Thank you for posting this, Otoko-san. Speaking as an old-timer from the Taiho era, but whose time actually in Japan was limited to a couple of U.S. military tours (therefore, sheltered from the real Japanese experience), reading this was still a real eye-opener. Not only on the media, but on everything Japanese - government, business, my wife's family and friends, arguments we've had - all of that. Puts a lot of stuff that's happened into a little better focus. Sumo too, so not totally Off-topic, IMHO. Thanks!
Orion Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 For anyone interested in how the media operates in Japan, this 20 minute NPR report is very interesting...http://www.onthemedia.org/transcripts/2008/12/12/06 There's been a pretty extensive coverage (yet again) of Kisha Clubs on the Japan Forum recently, and I recommend anyone interested in indepth studies of Japan-America relations to Google it and sign up. But if you are happy with the level of this article, don't bother. The moderation is severe. FWIW, Orion ;-)
