I think he switches back and forth regularly...

Is there any text on the little metal plaques surrounding the bottom part of the Emperor's Cup? Names of winners, perhaps?

Loads of little plaques. Forgot to read them last time I was up close but guess it could be winners.

304 kilograms for Mr. Yarborough, wasn't it? :-)

He seemed all of that.

I met Mr. Yarborough (hey, I wouldn't call him anything but Mr.) at the 2000 Blackships festival in Newport,RI. He certainly rivaled Konishiki in size. (Konishiki was there, too).

If he is, he's grown new hair. (Laughing...)

Hmm, even the legthy 3 minute study of oyakata gallery yields no possible alternative. (Applauding...)

I dont even know who is the guy in blue behind Asashoryu. (Dancing of joy...)

Oh, and dont underestimate the power of hair transplants. (Applauding...) (Laughing...)

Speaking of hair. you don't suppose that's Asashoryu's tokoyama right behind him (in the beige coat)? (Dancing of joy...) His mage is looking quite proper for just comning off a plane.

Since I decided to convince some sceptics on Croatian forum that sumo wrestlers are not just masses of lard but real sportsmen, I uploaded several pictures that speak louder than words...

Taka_keiko1.jpg

Taka_keiko2.jpg

Taka in action... it was during his year-long absence, tho'.

Nami doing the splits.

Izutsu_keiko.jpg

Terao pumping those thigh-muscles. :-)

Azuma_sandbag.jpg

Azuma embracing a sandbag (and judging by his faraway look, dreaming of someone else. :-) )

That's it!

Quote time for picture with number 9 on it-

"Okay very funny but when I find out who put glue on the posts they are in big trouble."

Great pictures again!

Someone upload a pic of Kakizoe immediately prior to his bouts, please.

The stretchers he does during the walkups to the bouts are just simply amazing for a man of his size. ;-)

As promised elsewhere here are ten images of yokozuna Kagamisato who sadly deceased yesterday.

I searched for some danpatsu-shiki images for Wajima, Kitanoumi & Takamiyama but couldn't find them. (Laughing...)

However, I found few images of Wajima's and Kitanoumi's rivalry. As you undoubtedly know before every Tokyo basho the yusho-gaku are introduced with the winners of the two last yusho. Here's one such occasion with Wajima (left) and Kitanoumi (right).

yusho-gaku, about 350 cm tall pictures of yusho winners; hung on the ceiling of Kokugikan; paid by Mainichi Shimbun newspaper and coloured over black and white photos by an elderly lady; after being in Kokugikan for six years they are given to the respective rikishi; prior to every honbasho held at Kokugikan two yusho-gaku depicting latest honbasho winners are revealed

wajima-kitanoumi1.jpg

Another image of the rare sandan-gamae ceremony I've been hoping for years someone would tell me more about. Anyone?

sandan-gamae, rare ceremony perfomed on especially dignified occasions (such as the opening ceremony in the new Kokugikan) by two highest ranked rikishi and one gyoji
