Fujisan Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 (edited) perhaps as much as you regarding their culture - the culture that gave birth to sumo. The culture that still dictates how sumo is played out, what makes a rikishi great, how rikishi behave - everything that makes sumo what it is, and perhaps much of what drew us all in in the first place. "To know sumo is to love sumo Mark." Oh so what your saying is that if a rikishi doesn't win a single bout but keeps obedient to their culture then he can still be a great rikishi? :-P (Hugging...) B-) Edited August 31, 2008 by Fujisan
Mark Buckton Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 yeah, I think that is EXACTLY what I am saying. :-P Great brevity there. Thanks.
Fujisan Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 your right - will (not) do. B-) C'mon Paul - let's chill: :-P (Hugging...) I'm always chilled Mark.... Lifes too short to get hung up about every little difference of opinion. Take care pal B-)
Kintamayama Posted August 31, 2008 Author Posted August 31, 2008 Former YDC head Ishibashi-san had more to say on the current affair. "I think the Kyokai should re-evaluate its overseas voyage standards. I shall be discussing this with the various Oyakata at the Soken on September 5th (there is a soken on September 5th!!). The Yokozuna is coming off a kyujo and there is real concern that he will suffer from insufficient keiko yet again. "At this time, the Yokozuna is a role model for all rikishi. If he doesn't understand that himself, shouldn't the Kyokai make a point of making it clear to him?", he questioned.
Sashohitowa Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 :-P When a mathematician finds the answer to an equation,he doesn't go looking for another answer. this is so not true.... I've found the answer to lifes equation I dont need to open my mind to another answer.... And this sounds so... sad...
Fujisan Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 :-P And this sounds so... sad... Why? Only because you think I'm wrong and I should still be looking (Hugging...) I've found 'the meaning of life' that people have been searching for thousands of years and you think thats sad? No Sashitoiwa, its very liberating.....
Babaryutaikai Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Well, he's back in Japan now, press and all, so let's see what unfolds.
Kintamayama Posted September 1, 2008 Author Posted September 1, 2008 "I returned to Mongolia because I had to see the President. I did return with the group as required...", he explained upon his return to Japan earlier today.
Kintamayama Posted September 1, 2008 Author Posted September 1, 2008 (edited) More: "I felt I did not greet the Prime Minister and the President enough, so I had to return to Mongolia. As for Yaku and the pictures,I have been warned in the past so I always take care to appear the right way in public. This was a private affair and private pictures of me on holiday. Yaku should have come along with me..", he said. Edited September 1, 2008 by Kintamayama
Treblemaker Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 (edited) Watching the Mongolian videos, I noticed that Asa is really favouring his right ankle and that left elbow. He seemed to have little push off his right leg and gripping anything with his left hand was problematic... I think the Mongolian Tournament came at the wrong time for him (?). I don't see how he can be ready to go through a full Basho in that condition. Comments? Or was I just seeing things? Edited September 1, 2008 by Treblemaker
Treblemaker Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Sorry for the double-post, but I just realized... he's left-handed, isn't he? Yikes...
Kintamayama Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 Yaku Mitsuru was angered even more by Asashouryuu's joking at his expense ("Maybe Yaku can come along to Mongolia and be my tokoyama..") "This is too serious an issue to be joking about!", he said. "There are many members in the Kyokai who agree with me. They are just keeping quiet out of respect for the Yokozuna. I'd like him to know that!", he added, explaining that it's not a personal thing.
Kintamayama Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 The part where Asa offers Yaku Mitsuru a job as his hairdresser:
Kintamayama Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 Another juicy story is breaking in the tabloids and is all over the net, but I will sit on it till I see it in one of the serious online papers. It concerns Asashouryuu and better be totally fabricated.
